[MoFA] Honourary Citizenships to the Friends of Ireland

Day 2,038, 16:51 Published in Ireland Ireland by Brian Boru

As Minister for Foreign Affairs, as well as perhaps the oldest remaining active player in eIreland, it falls to me to honour the men and women who have fought with distinction for Ireland's liberty from occupation despite not being a citizen.

The Republic will therefore confer honourary citizenship via executive order by merit of resistance in her name, on the following. The list is not exhaustive, and more may be named at a later date.

Firstly, those who brought many soldiers to bear on behalf of Irelan😛

The Citizens of France
The sheer number of volunteer soldiers from France was both staggering and touching, and as such, they played a vital role in our military efforts. In recognition of this, the citizens of France are hereby granted honourary citizenship of the Irish Republic for as long as our two countries remain friends.

The Citizens of the United States of America
After the French, the number of US citizens participating in battles on behalf of Ireland was the next largest. Given the state of their country, this was a particular sacrifice, and thus the Republic is obligated to recognise that sacrifice. The citizens of the US are hereby granted honourary citizenship of the Irish Republic for as long as our two countries remain friends.

Robija_88
Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a long time friend of Ireland, his aid in the resistance wars was crucial for rallying support amongst anti-British elements in the Balkans, as well as aiding diplomacy with other countries.

The Orthadox Celt
He knows who he is, but cannot be named for diplomatic reasons.

Ireland would also like to thank all nations who contributed to her liberty, in particular Portugal, Croatia, Italy, and Canada.

Now, individual soldiers who fought with distinction on behalf of Ireland, to be awarded honourary citizenship, in no particular order:

Mario DrittoPeDritto (Italy)
Kleantjo the Legend (Albania)
anton9292 (Bulgaria)
Vilar47 (Ukraine)
Jerome Manpower (France)

These soldiers fought with great skill under both my command, and that of the Minister for Defence, Seanan. Their contributions went beyond what was to be expected of them, and so we honour them with the highest award we can give.

Furthermore, in aiding the development of more amiable Anglo-Irish relations via his article entitled "Should Ireland be our Bros?", the Republic recognises of Bohemond4 as an honourary consul to Ireland from the United Kingdom for as long as he supports good Anglo-Irish relations.

Signed on behalf of the Government of eIreland,
Brian Boru.
