[FoW] Daily Challenge Impacts
Don Croata.
Hi Nederlanders,
It’s a pleasure to be able to join you guys soon. Last couple of months I wasn’t playing Erepublik, at some point my account even died. My RL schedule was hectic and I simply couldn’t afford to spend some extra time in here. Then, a few days ago I logged in again, said hello to my friends and now I’m back. That’s usually how I roll anyway, at least since the game became less interesting for me personally.
An introduction
Most of the people that ran eNetherlands for the last couple of years know me, I’ve spent almost all my eLife in Ireland and we were often working closely with eNetherlands. I believe that eIreland used to set example for other smaller countries on how to manage a country with 30-ish active citizens. Some countries were successful doing that, while others failed. eNetherlands not only did success, but it also grew to be the most active and attractive small country in the World. That’s the reason I’ve chosen it for my new location to play and meet new people, spend some quality time and write about stuff, cause I like that.
I am also known as MUFC, Papi and Don Croata. For friends I was always just Don. During my eLifetime I managed two big alliances (EDEN and Aurora) and I played for 5 countries. Except Ireland those were Croatia, Australia, South Africa & the USA. The biggest reason I kept on changing names, accounts and countries is the attempt to spice things up game wise. Boredom is the worst feeling you can feel while playing an online game. Sadly, that happens a lot in Erepublik. Yet, we’re still here.
Hopefully I’ll meet a lot of new, cool people over here and start some great relationships.
How will the new changes affect the game?
Plato has introduced new changes today. We have a new daily challenge starting from today. I believe that Plato’s intention was to keep the players in game for a bit longer than just 2-click which many were doing. Maybe that works, who knows. What won’t work better is the economy. Let’s take a short look of what we’re getting per day:
- 1 extra fuel (7 per week)
- 52 raw materials (364 per week)
- 5 overtime points (35 per week)
- 1,5k cc (10,5k per week)
- 1 damage accelerator (7 per week)
- 516 prestige points (3612 per week)
The challenge contains several various things we could do. I will consider only the stuff that will surely have an impact on the macroeconomy of the game. Some of that stuff is:
- employing workers
- producing raw material, weapon, food, houses or aircraft
Rewards and requirements combined will cause several things that will affect the job market, monetary market and production profitability as well. Newly gained raw materials will most likely be put on the market, which will cause raw material price to go down. That will make producing more profitable. However, the added currency will make the worth of money less, which means 1 gold will probably be worth more than it is now. Not by much though. Gained extra profits from cheaper raw materials will be anulated by the inflation.
On the other hand, considering that many new players will be placing job offers I’m expecting wages to be higher soon, that means that profitability in the companies will be anulated by this change. Since employing workers actually brings lots of points wages could be increased for 10-20% in a short time. This increasement will probably be less in a long term. There are also an extra overtime points which means more money for an average Joe as well. Seems that the biggest change will be with the amount of money in the game.
Let’s sum this up:
Wages will be higher.
Weapon and food prices will remain the same or get a bit higher.
House prices will be higher.
Gold price will be a bit higher as well.
All in all, this won’t change too much. Its the old rule of giving everyone the same amount of stuff means no one got anything. Only the numbers we’re seeing will be bigger, everything else remains the same.
Honourable mention to the designer that created all the icons and concept of the daily challenge window. This is probably the worst set of skills I have ever seen. Seriously though, it’s actually pretty hard to watch it.
Got my first SH in eNL!

IMO the impact will be only in the first days when people will try to gather as many points as possible. Then nobody will care and it will be old business as usual 😛
People will try to get the rewards as thats not too hard, assigning workers and producing stuff you wont need and you will sell could become a habit for many actually. Even though the rewards aren't too good.
If only 20% of people keeps doing it the effects will be constant. However, even with the constant effect there will be no change generally.
V! More clicks but new challenges seems ok. At least I can get all rewards without xp 😃

what about strength, EB?
If everyone gets the same strength then nothing much happens. Progress is still the same for all. EBs also remains the same.
I mean this part:
Let’s take a short look of what we’re getting per day:
- 1 extra fuel (7 per week)
- 52 raw materials (364 per week)
- 5 overtime points (35 per week)
- 1,5k cc (10,5k per week)
- 1 damage accelerator (7 per week)
- 516 prestige points (3612 per week)
Yeah, I left it out cause it has no impact on macroeconomy.
+2 strength means +0.04 gold (0.28 per week) but still not much 😃
Well, when the daily strength gain is increased, it would allow weaker players to reduce their relative disadvantage more quickly. It's only increased by 0.6 (219 per year), so it won't make a real difference.
EB gain is increased quite a lot. With up to 3612 more PP per week, you will mathematically gain 72 more EBs from the top-tier of the WC, due to energy bonuses from Level-ups that could be worth about 800 hits (80Q7 weapons consumed).
Or you coluld use more of your Energy to work as manager or go less hard on tuesdays. Some minmaxers who don't go for 20k on Tuesday epics, but rather 5k, will also increase their recovery (and therefore consumption of goods) throughout the week.
Welcome to eNL Warbhoy!
Thanks bro, glad to see at least one of the foxes still kickin'
"Weapon and food prices will remain the same or get a bit higher.
House prices will be higher."
Why?
I wonder why Plato is throwing out so many raws. Is that good for economy? It might just lead to people producing even more and we already have overproduction. I think prices for goods may even go further down due to that.
More raws for producers = cheaper production = cheaper weps.
More raws in economy = more raws on market = cheaper raws = cheaper weps.
exactly 🙂
But you wrote prices will be higher 😃
Yup, because I believe prices will get higher and in the end it will cause wep prices higher in a short term. They wont change for much in a long term.
Higher wages = higher production cost = higher price of weps > impact of raw overproduction
It's all complicated...
Handing out extra raws means fewer raws will need to be produced and raws overall will be cheaper. But the finished products will still require active workers. So salaries will be based upon the margins that can be made on selling the actual weapons, etc. If you assume an unchanged salary, the weapons price can drop due to the lower raws cost.
But people are also given free CC. Which means they should be inclined to spend more, and you actually expect an increased demand for finished products. Which in turn means you expect employers to want to employ more people or to encourage people to work more overtime. Hence, they'll tend to increase wages. In order to pay for these wages, they'll have to sell their products more expensively. And ideally, the "free" raw materials get used up thanks to the higher production, thus limiting their price drop.
Another effect of the free CC, while the amount of gold stays roughly the same is an increase in the price of gold, which we're seeing already. While it was at an already rather high 710 in the past months, we're at 750 now, with no clear reason why it wouldn't rise even further to 800 for instance.

Glad to see you're still around bro!
Nice article but i feel you dindt go deep in the daily challenge. There are a lot of daily challenge focus on Economic Module, that could help to increase the offer and lower the demand.
The houses could be lower the price because there are more free Raws in the market, same demand, higger offer.
Is difficult to make an analysis about weapons because now is needed to complete some daylis challenge so the Demand ll be higger (the demmand ll go to market or wam?), and the offer? probably too because the WAM could help to reach the 100 Active Points
In the challenges are a incentive to spend more, the ppl have more cc, WAM more, use the monetary market.
The monopolio of BH will be disputed because that challenge bring a lot of Activity points,
I think that this challenges will change the erepublik rhythm giving us a fresh air.
I dont think many people will go for production instead of fighting. You can literally take all the daily rewards if you:
- train
- win SH
- finish DO
- work as manager in any of the industry (wep, food, air OR house)
- fight three times a day
I dont think someone would actually produce raw materials and buy companies in order to get a couple of prestige points that could be taken by actually fighting anyway.
I am a very active player, and i am at 90 PA. The region where i have my holding is occupied.
To reach 100 PA i have to complete any of this challenge:
- Train Hard (I dont have 4 TC, just 1)
- Figth with special Weapon (bazookas dont count) are limited weapon
Win a SH is not easy for all, and the BH now ll be more hunting to complete the challenges...
Is not impossible, but the companies will be the protagonist in this update.
Check a Spanish article with an very complete analysis

Good article in Spain!
Your game style represents the huge minority of players, so the effects on macroeconomy (which I tried to analyse) won't be too affected by what your type of players will do. At least I dont think so. That doesnt make your gamestyle wrong.
Keep writting is good for the community having articles like this!
We will see what the future holds for us o7
I use the MM, by buying 0.01 gold per day. You barely need to buy anything.
And I use the marketplace by buying 1 Q1 food...
Yes, there is an incentive to do these things daily, but the overall effect should be very small if you try to do the bare minimum to meet the mission requirements.
However, though I'm not an employer currently, it definitely is something to consider with these new missions, mainly because they also give free prestige points for the weekly challenge.

This is what I call an introduction article when arriving in a new country.

"- 52 raw materials (364 per week)"
I would have distinguished between WaM-able raw materials and employee-only raw materials. 52 ARM/HRM would be a lot, 52 FRM/WRM is a virtually nothing.
Also, 3612 more Prestige Points per week mean about 72 more EBs per week in the top-tier of the WC and for players who arev trying to minmax the WC, it means higher recovery throughout the week.
So it will also increase food and especially weapons consumption.
Yup, agreed, this comment kinda makes my article complete.
Welcome to the eNetherlands!
Thanks mate o7
As one does what one normally does each day, one gains all the goodies, I mean what's there to gain after the 100 activity points?
Welcome to eNL, and welcome on board!
The only gain after the 100 points is prestige points from the rest of the challenges. Some might actually go for it, but not many.
