[Don] Country report: eIreland

Day 3,960, 10:51 Published in Ireland Croatia by Khutawyra101

Hello Eire!
It feels great to be home once again, I’m glad there are still people around who played with me in this beautiful and proud country for years. Not many communities survive that long, especially not many small ones. Let me introduce myself for those who I didn’t had privilege to play with…

I am Don Croata, aka Papi Don and few more names. However, the person behind the nickname is always the same guy. I’m Croat iRL, I spent some time living in Ireland as well, in a beautiful town called Kilkenny. Loved everything there except the climate. When it comes to Erepublik I’ve basicly been everything you can be in this game when I played here the last time. Multiple time President, MoD, MoFA, MoF, I was Commander of Irish Army and Irish Citizen Army, I’m the founder of Omega Eireann and CrOmega’s branch in Ireland. I’ve met so many great people here and it was always my great pleasure to give everything I have for this community.

Hopefully, I’ll have enough time and motive to do those things again. Now when I’ve introduced myself I’m gonna write a short report on Ireland, just so my friends who are also coming back home have a clear picture of what’s going on around here.

THE GEOPOLITICS OF eIRELAND

Ireland borders the core regions of three countries - Canada, United Kingdom and USA. That fact has been decisive factor for most of eIrish history. Relations with those countries has been pretty much stable for most of the history. However, in the last couple of years Canada has chosen to change side, while UK somehow ended up on our side for some time. Considering constant shifts from UK over the years our relations with them has been changing accordingly. They’d be our ‘natural enemy’ most of the time. Canada has always been a good friend, but we had few incidents when they had Rylde in charge, we even ended up in wars few times. USA has been our ally and friend for 95% of Erep’s history, it’s the only country we never had a war with - until recently. It lasted shortly and we finished it with nice manners from both sides.

When it comes to alliances we’ve never changed side we’ve been fighting for, not many countries can really say so. Ireland, Croatia, Albania, Cyprus and maybe few more I can’t remember of. I think that thing is something all the eIrish are very proud of. We’ve always been known as a good ally as well. We’re always there for our allies, always in the fight.

With numerous shifts on the world’s diplomatic maps it’s hard to track who’s been our closest ally when you take the whole eHistory under consideration, but for all of this time Croatia and Albania has been there for us. Nowadays we are friends with countries such as Chile, Argentina, Philippines, South Korea, Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Hungary and Cyprus. Those would be our top allies. We’re not part of any real alliance or organization, but Ireland is working on bilateral relations with all of those countries.

CURRENT SITUATION ON EMERALD ISLAND

At this moment there are three ongoing TW’s in our core regions.

Ireland vs. Greece
Ireland vs. Croatia
Greece vs. Croatia

It gives all three countries involved a good and stable place to get medals and profits while it still enables us to have enough regions to play the other aspects of the game. We can still open wars with others, have Airstrikes, hold congress elections and so on. All of those training wars are fairly easy. Ireland wins RW’s while Greece and Croatia win direct battles.

When it comes to resources we’re currently giving away our Deer (30% food resource) for exchange of 5% of French food production GDP. It brings us an average of 5700 IEP per day. In the same time France is renting us their food resources too. They’re giving us their Cattle (20😵, Fruits (15😵 and Fish (10😵 for exchange of 4%,3% and 2% of our food industry GDP.

Concessions are very handy tool for small countries because it gives them an option to choose what to do with their resources. For example it’s expected from France to try protecting us in a diplomatic way against their friends in order to protect their resource source. Same is expected from us on them. This new game mechanics thingy brings much more complexed diplomatic relations than before. Considering we were fairly successful during the last resource wars we earned the right to manage our resources the way we think it suits us the most. We can still own the regions, just not the resource. It would be like a foreign oil company coming to our country to exploit our oil and paying us money to do so. We can either choose that or just using our own oil. When you’re a small country the first options sounds better. I've written about this and other changes in my previous article, so feel free to take a look there.

With this change Plato also introduced another change which suits small countries. Now determination bonuses for regions occupied by foreign countries are getting higher much faster and they have a “memory” too. Which means determination bonus can’t simply be neutralized by RWing and re-conquering the region again.

THE IRISH ECONOMY

Counting all the incomes and expenditures eIreland is currently making an average of 11 000 IEP per day, which is more than enough to cover most of our costs at this moment. We used to make much less in the history, but after the recent changes it’s getting better for small communities. Countries are now able to manage more money and fund more projects. Considering the size of eIreland we should be great with what we’re getting. Most of the money is coming from the concessions with France and from taxation of managers who work in our holdings.

After all the concession laws our bonuses are fairly good, we’re on 70% on both weapons and food which is just enough to have a decent profit for company holders. I’ll write more detailed article on production formulas and similar calculations as well as region bonuses too, but this article would be too long if I’d write it all today so let’s stick with basic informations for now.

Our GDP is on a fairly decent amount considering our size, our citizens are making decent amount of weapons and food while lacking in house and aircraft, since we gave those directions when we started the resource wars that’s fairly expected to happen.

eIreland has the lowest possible taxes too, we’re very ‘producers friendly’ country and our low taxes has been constantly low for years. I don’t see that being changed any time soon. All of the products have VAT and import taxes on the minimum of 1% so we’re an open market which tries to make production more profitable for home producers and market more open for cheaper prices on it.

THE FIGHTING IRISH

Ireland has a long tradition of being very active in world’s conflicts and wars. We’ve often fully engaged in what’s going on regarding of our numbers. During all those years we’ve developed our state of mind to something we call “The fighting Irish” which means we’ve always helped our allies when they’d call for our assistance.

It wasn't rarity for Ireland that we attacked countries twice of its size. I’ll never forget how Poland ran away when we conquered half of Scandinavia several years ago. We Airstriked many big countries in order to help an ally, some of them being even 10 times our size. Fighting has been a long tradition for eIreland and that surely won’t change any time soon. However, with all the changes in the game we need to be careful with choosing our enemies.

Internal military organization of eIreland is quite simple. We used to have few military units such as Irish Citizen Army (The ICA), Irish Army (regular army) and CrOmega. Traditionally those were the strongest ones over the years.

Nowadays only one of them is still active and it’s the regular army, the official army of eIreland, ran and supported by the Irish Governments. It’s the Irish Army. It’s not only a Military unit because of it’s important to the comunity. It’s also a group which gathers most of the active players and coordinate their efforts into military results. Irish Army has grew to be the place where everyone gather, discuss things and develop themselves and that’s what makes it different than other MU’s worldwide.

There are not too many regular, state managed MU’s in the world, probably because smaller countries became dependant on the individuals which spends loads of money, while bigger countries couldn’t keep their citizens united under one banner. I genuinely believe that having one MU, national MU such as Irish Army is the best thing a small community such as ours can have.

Irish Army has various projects in which they’re rewarding Irish citizens for making air kills or simply finishing daily orders. It’s also funded by Plato’s Foundation which helps communities to grow to what IA has grown too. IA’s Commander is Slua, one of my closest friends in this game and former CrOmega member too.
