Welcome Bulgaria! (A brief resume of the Slovak-Bulgarian relations)

Day 1,592, 12:30 Published in Poland Slovakia by KacmiDO

Several days passed already when Bulgaria decided a very courageous move and left the TEDEN alliance. As many of you might know, Bulgaria experienced differences with Turkey, possibly of the same nature we experienced in ONE not very long time ago. In times ONE dominated the world, there were already strong disagreements between Spain and Turkey and after the voting concerning Kosovo, when allied Turkish players expressed their clear YES to the independence of this province, the relations with Serbia became violent (many of you remember hard reactions of Serbian players like PedjaT for example).

After Turkey switched sides suddenly (for many of us it was no surprise) this action shattered the ONE alliance and forced it into a deep defensive. Many strong ONE/proONE countries became erased (Poland, Hungary, Indonesia, Macedonia, Sweden, Austria, Slovakia) or long-term occupied (UK, Spain, Iran, Mexico, Venezuela, South Korea, Egypt, Pakistan...). ONE seemed losing at all fronts, but the spirit remained remarkably good. With the leaving of Turkey also the apple of discord disappeared and a coherent and strong core with a friendly atmosphere remained despite the fact, we were considerably weakened.

Already in times ONE reached the climax of it´s domination we were discussing the future scenarios, because many players considered Turkey as the unstable element. And plenty of us expressed the secret wish to "exchange" Turkey for a TEDEN country. A country with no hard feelings, a country which is accepted as an honoured opponent and would be acceptable as good ally as well. We unanimously agreed upon Bulgaria.

For me as a representative of the Slovak community (and I believe, I´m herewith speaking on behalf of most of us) and as a former official, there were several encounters with Bulgaria (Bulgarian players) not only on battlefield in the past, which led to no serious hostilities and surprisingly even not to trolling.

As you can read here, in times Czechoslovakia was still successfully existing and the Czech republic was PTOed by rogue players and cheaters (unfortunately most of them from Turkey), Bulgaria was asked not to sing an MPP with it. The Bulgarian congress and president turned this MPP proposal down indeed although they could misuse this situation and weaken us as a country from opposite alliance. This was a honourable act we still remember.

Another article shows a situation, when few strong Bulgarian groups decided to start a RW and liberate one of the Czech territories united under former Czechoslovakia. In such cases we were used of hostile behavior and massive trolling, especially when most of such attacking MUs came from allied countries (Serbia, Turkey). Our experience with Bulgarians here was a fair fight and even making jokes. You can see also my 130 days old comment and therefore (not only) my attitude to Bulgaria.

One of the last notable encounters was the erasing of Slovakia by Bulgaria in course of the Bulgarian-Hungarian war ca 70-60 days ago. Bulgaria advanced through Ukraine and attacked us as we were a close Hungarian ally and we nevertheless would open another front to relieve Hungary. Immediately after we were wiped out, Bulgaria showed generosity and left all our regions to be free. The ultimate opposite Romania did recently when they 2x attacked us together with Croatia and tried to hold our regions stubbornly even if they were of no use to them.

This brief demonstration (even connected with so much reading) tries to draw closer the attitude of our country towards yours. Even we were opponents for a very long time, we were never enemies. For me personally - I´m happy you´r on our side, Bulgaria.
