Recently, the SFP Producer Cooperative held an election for a new Treasurer. With the coming departure of Leroy Combs this became a necessity. The Producers of the SFP Prod. Co-op have elected Centomax as their new treasurer. As Leroy leaves the role and transitions the Co-op's treasury, I have taken it upon myself to interview him, both to set an example for future treasurers to come and as an informative piece for players who are looking for information on Cooperatives and how they function.

You can read the interview below:

Q: So, Leroy, you’ve successfully completed the first term as a Treasurer of the SFP Producer Cooperative, and are the first Treasurer of a centralized Cooperative to have done so. How would you characterize the role?

A: It was a little work getting everything set up, but I kept all transactions on a google sheet that all the Coop members to see to ensure all transactions are correct. Transparency is important for a treasurer.

Q: You pioneered the Running Ledger, how did you come to this idea for easy display of the Cooperatives finances?

A: Again transparency is the key, keeping all transactions available for everyone to see.

Q: Are there any changes you would make to the role of Treasurer?

A: Not really, it's pretty simple, we have about the right number of members so there aren't to many transactions.

Q: Are there any changes you would make to Cooperative ledgers?

A: Not really, it would be a little easier if members don't change their names which messes up the ledger.

Q: What advice do you have for Producers in the two Cooperatives operating within the eUS?

A:
I think it is a great resource especially for new players, Wilker Nath is a good example he has used Coop funding to purchase multiple companies. It is also a good place to exchange ideas on company's to invest in.

Q: What advice do you have for future Treasurers and your successor, Centomax?

A: Like I said before we have a really good group of members, we do a good job of communicating.

Q: What are your thoughts on the viability of Cooperative eSociety and do you think this movement will catch on with the eRepublik community at large?

A: I think it can be extremely useful for younger members of our community, I would strongly recommend it for them. I have all the companies I need so I felt good helping younger players develop the economic side of their game.

Q: Do you have any recommended changes to the By-Laws of the SFP Producer Cooperative?

A: Not really I think they are fair, and if changes need to be made there is a way to make them included in the By-Laws.

Q: What characteristics should producers of a Cooperative look for when selecting a treasurer from among themselves?

A: Someone with adequate currency so that the Coop funds aren't a big issue. A long time player is probably best also. Everyone in the Coop has to be comfortable with the person handling the funds.

Q: Were you surprised by the success of the SFP Producer Cooperative?

A: Yes, I was, I did not have a lot of experience outside the military side of the game with cooperative enterprises. It has been a learning experience in a good way.

Q: And lastly, would you recommend producers form these organizations for the betterment of all involved?

A: Yes, I am also curious about the new national coop and their decentralized accounting system.
