WookieO of UKRP - eUK Leaders Interviews June 2017

To prepare for the Congress Elections on the 25th, I am interviewing each of the UK Party Presidents as they once again battle for control of the nation.

Following on from my interview of Pannonian Nomad of UKPP is WookieO of UKRP. Huey George of WRP should be the next interview, the other Party Presidents have not replied yet though and there's only two days left before the election!



Topher: Thank you for agreeing to the interview Wookie. So how did you get started in eRepublik?

Wookie: I was initially groomed by Dr Hugh before the stress of everything got to him and he had to run off Down Under.

Then I was fortunate enough to be taken under the wing of Chaz and Wayne. This was where I learned the nuts and bolts of the game and to not take any of it too seriously.

Chaz's party, The Skatalites, was where my career took off and was where I was lucky enough to win my first Country President election. The Royal Army Dental Corps was my military home for a long time. It was a Military Unit that not only tanked well, it played the game perfectly and taught me a lot!

Topher: What do you want to achieve within eRepublik now?

Wookie: My personal target is to reach Level 201 and get free training. After that I'll have to set a new goal I s'pose 😛

For my party and for the eUK I want to see activity levels rise again. This is hard when the game itself works so hard to alienate it's players, but hopefully if there's a cause to get behind then the population will feel engaged. That cause might be keeping BigAnt out of government, stopping a Political Takeover by nefarious forigs or even wanting to see the country take on some colonies again.

Topher: What are your political beliefs and policies in eRepublik?

Wookie: The way I play the game is to try and keep in mind that it is a game. It's supposed to be fun. So my policies are to keep people as informed as possible, keep them as entertained as possible and to make sure they can do the basics...work, fight and well, fight some more 😉

Topher: How do you think that your policies differ from the other parties?

Wookie: As you well know, there's not really any difference between the parties except for their names and who's generally in charge of them. I'm pretty sure none of the parties would disagree with my policies as listed above. Some take a more serious stance on the whole thing though, others play the game to divide the population, to cause friction, to start debates...because this does generate activity.

I think you've got to have a harmony between these philosophies. Much like most things in life, too much of anything is undoubtedly bad for you. So it is vital to get a balance between not taking the game too seriously, but pressing the buttons in a timely manner and creating enough friction and internal debate that the population doesn't get bored.

War, of course, is very important in this, but you don't want to be constantly wiped either. So you've got to pick your battles wisely, literally as well as figuratively 🙂
