A Fireside Chat with Senry: Self Sufficiency

You've survived the first half of our conversation, about communes.
Otherwise, well, I mean, why else are you reading this? This is the second part, about Senry's self sufficiency idea, which utilizes WAM tax to make more funds than the current VAT funding.

- First Part was last article, it focuses on what we call "ComMUnism". This half of our economic policy involves coordinating with MUs to produce specialized goods per MU commune, to be subsidized by government funding and working together to be able to provide more efficient programs for our newbies in MUs.
-Part Two is the this half, regarding the citizen in particular. The plan is kinda hard to explain, but involves self sufficiency for food products at least. This, due to a plethora of calculations Senry did, will actually lead to more funds from FRM than from Q1 food because of work tax.

The other change I'll be making to the conversation is I'll occasionally place pictures with a small caption, as a wall of text might actually kill me. Without further ado, this is the convo, you're about to sit in on a real fireside chat with me and Senry.

So before we begin, as this is a natural conversation, it can get confusing, if you need to just remember what the main idea is, here's how it goes.
- Give subsidies to new players through the communized MUs to jump start food production. As the air battle mechanic was introduced, no food changes were brought about, causing huge inflation in the food market due to more players fighting. If more players are self sufficient, not only will this pay dividends down the line, but WAM taxes will outgrow VAT taxes.

(That's me. I'm that gecko. I'm calling Senry with my psychokinesis powers)

Komeko: The self sufficiency plan, how does it work, and how does it give more money from the MU stuff?
Senry: So ike, a lot of people (that is, people who aren't self-sufficeint), get their food through two primary routs. MU supplies and buying it from the market.
Komeko: So why is this necessarily bad. (Devil's Advocate pls)
Senry: SHUT UP KOMEKO AND ACCEPT EVERYTHING I SAY OMG >:C. ITA T ERRIBLE HORRIBLE HORIBLE. A. sdf. ahem

tfw you defy your puppet overlord
Komeko: : ^ )
Senry: So, let's go over what they'd pay. I used numbers from pre-inflation, as post inflation numbers are thrice pre-inflation numbers. This was for food alone, because well, everybody uses food. Everybody buys it and needs it. You can fight without weapons, but you can't work without energy. To get 2k energy it's .09 * 1000=90. Whereas producing that much at the currentQAM is $18. An individual loses out on that much, furthermore, the WAM tax is still much higher than the VAT tax on that $90. The money is not flowing in a desirable direction

Komeko: For the person at least.
Senry: Or for us, because the government could make more money on it too
Komeko: Assuming I'm the government, don't I want this?
Senry: YA. It also makes potential food prices more stable as stockpiles can be stored on each individual player, preventing food crises.
Komeko: So by making food self sufficient, it keeps inflation down to a minimum..

Senry: Really, the question is not whether this is a good idea or not, but rather if the return on interest is low enough to be worth it. Or, rather, if the break-even point is close enough to the current day.
Komeko: How about having this for military units?
Senry: Most won't want it, or have refused in the past.
Komeko: So what are the benefits, assuming we enforce it that we can use an incentive
Senry: Strings, transparency, having the report spending and shit
Komeko: While giving the government more tax from FRM tax?

Senry: FRM has not tax dummy
Komeko: So the deal is if it's not worth the hassle to do it? Oh shoot that's WAM!
Senry: Well, that's also good too. If you encourage certain FRM sellers to move more into the food market by subsidizing them too, you gain the tax you effectively miss out on otherwise.
Komeko: The tax you miss from VAT, you recoup in the massive increase in work tax. Not because you raised it, but because more people are working.
Senry: Yeah, you gain more for work tax than you do with VAT
Komeko: Becauswmbasicallyeverybody works.
Senry: Well, 90*.05 = $4.5. With 90 being the cost of 1k food. Whesprducing that much food gives an income of $18.
Komeko: So about four times the revenue
Senry: The government gains about $13.5 from every lost sale of 1k Q1 food.
Komeko: Now how do you get people to self produce food? You mentioned subsidies.

Senry: Well the criteria could still be an array of things like having been deemed worthy of your air TGs by your MU. It could be attached to BU2SU, or BU2SU could be repurposed for self sufficiency rather than food, since, realistically, you don't need gold for strength TGs.
Komeko: As in you don't need gold for TGs because of air battles?
Senry: Yeah, basically a new player will never be good enough at strength. Sad but true, it's more like luxury spending.
Komeko: It really does suck
Senry: In the case of generating a person more money, self-sufficiency would actually have better returns than upgrading TGs and pulling in the gold from it. Well, maybe not better, but at least on par. Generally, the self sufficiency distribution doesn't need to be fast, so we don't have to drain the banks all at once.
Komeko: So, what plans will you push through congress if we get elected in terms of economic plans?
Senry: Might not need to push it through Congrrss directly. Market a rebranding of BU2SU for reasons above, bare minimum, then ask to see if we can get the budget raised for that.Since it's already an existing line it shouldn't be too bad. Encouraging players to work in communes can all be done extra-congressionaly
Komeko: Good stuff, seeing as I'm gonna put pictures in between funny things, and that this will be a nightmare beyond nightmares to type up, wanna wrap it up?
Senry: I want to thank my lawyers.
Komeko: I mean you'll probably be needing them, so will I tbh.
Senry: I'll be pleading the fifth, tyvm. I don't like pushing budgets through Congress unless it's necessary, it's best to find a way to work around it. Because otherwise it shows that you're some goddamn [CENSORED HOLY SHIT SENRY] WHO CAN'T DO SHIT [CENSORED DAMN IT SENRY]
Komeko: I don't think there's a better way to turn off the article than that. See ya world.
