[PotUS] Bridging the Gaps

Day 4,573, 21:13 Published in USA USA by Tyler Bubblar

I am frequently amazed by how quickly the election cycles of eRepublik continue to churn. A month ago I was in the midst of campaigning for what would be my 5th term as CP. I was nervous. I had not been President for 4 years, and in my mind there was a possibility that the time for my ideas, plans, and visions had passed. Those doubts did not linger long. I was struck (and grateful) by how quickly so many old friends and acquaintances rallied around the campaign. Things began to go a step further and players I had previously not had the privilege of working with began to join the team. It rapidly became glaringly obvious that the time for inclusion, diversity, transparency, commonality, and community engagement hadn’t passed. It is my strong belief that over the last 3 weeks we have proven that to the entirety of the eUSA.

I love being President of the eUSA. Not for myself, at least not at this point in my eRepublik career. In my announcing article last month I gave you a breakdown of the things I have done in eRepublik, and I feel no need to go over that again. I write this article now as I actively seek a 6th term at the helm of the eUSA not for myself, but for the team I have assembled and hope to add to. I do this for the eUSA community as a whole. Everyone has their own style in this game and in life. My style of Leadership is one of heavy delegation. I select people that I believe in and do my best to allow them to flourish. I write articles touting their accomplishments, I go to Congress to try to secure funding for their endeavors, and when things do not go as we hoped I take the blame. That is my approach. That is who I am.

I do not have the literary skills to do justice how much I have enjoyed watching this Cabinet gel. In truth it is one of the main reasons I enjoy being President as much as I do. This time around was unique for me because of my long absence from eRepublik and the even longer time that elapsed after the Resource Wars. I reached out to more than a few people that I did not know. They seized my attention with their articles, shouts, and enthusiasm. They showed in word and deed that they cared about the eUSA and our community and were doing what they could to contribute. Three such individuals are Wilker Nath, KingTaco, and hcmadman. All three of them in the last few days published endorsement articles for which I am thankful. Full disclosure I did ask my Cabinet if any of them would be willing to do so. I stressed it was not mandatory nor would it be held against anyone if they did not. However, I have never done all that well touting myself so I asked for help in shoring up what I consider to be a weakness of mine. For KingTaco’s article please follow this link, for Wilker’s article please follow this link, and for hcmadman’s article please follow this link. As I said I am very grateful that they took the time to write an article endorsing one more TB run at the White House.

One common theme that has permeated virtually every article written by the Executive team this month including the 3 endorsement articles aforementioned is a sense of team and camaraderie. In Wilker’s article he voices his wonderings and I think his hopes that the friendships and bonds he is forging will last beyond this administration. As I said I love being President of the eUSA. I love the feeling of helping to build something lasting and worthwhile. An inevitable byproduct of working together with players from groups that other than Congress do not normally rub elbows is a better understanding of one another. With understanding comes the foundation for respect, tolerance, and even friendship. This byproduct of what we are trying to do will stand the test of time. Those moments of shared purpose will stay with us beyond the duration of our time here in eRepublik.

Yet while we are all here our community will be better for it. Active, influential players from all groups will have a much easier time reaching out to other Parties for support on issues in Congress because they will all know someone. Players looking to build their own teams for a run at the Presidency will have people they know to ask to be a part of what they hope to accomplish and ask for recommendations to build up those teams. This is only a positive thing for the eUSA as a whole.

Before opting to run for reelection I queried the Cabinet to see what their thoughts were on running this thing back out for another go. The response was unanonymous and was along the lines of a month is just not enough time to stop when we are just gaining momentum. I do not have any plans to reinvent the wheel this month. I intend to work with Congress to discuss/pass reforms to our antiquated IES laws and secure permanent funding for the new Programs of the Interior. On a somewhat related note a lot of energy will be spent on getting the National CoOP fully operational. Max is seeking out people willing to be producers in this endeavor. I will be blunt. It is a worthwhile pursuit. If you genuinely want to be a part of something that will grow to not just be self sustaining but will eventually help support many of the aforementioned Interior programs now is the time. Do not let lack of funds stop you from throwing your hat in the ring. It is only asked that you contribute what you can and you will be treated as an equal with a vote in how the funds are used in the purchase of infrastructure. A more than decent amount of private dollars have already been set aside for the growing of this CoOP.

Before closing out this article I would just like to add that while the plan is to run back any and all current Cabinet members that wish to return I am always happy to add more to the team. If you are interested in getting involved with the Executive please contact me. I will ask you what your goals and interests are and then I will refer you to a Department head so we can get you started in realizing those goals. I have always believed that every group in the eUSA should have a seat at the table. When we all have a hand in the governance of the eUSA it gives a sense of ownership. It is a proven fact that owners take better care of their property than renters on average. I want our citizens to have a stake and a say in the community of the eUSA. I believe we are on the right track of making that a reality for more of our citizens. With that in mind I ask you to consider voting Tyler Bubblar for President on June 5th 2020. As always I thank you for reading.
