Your new constitution - and something constructive to do, lego perhaps
Tommy Aquinas
I’m Tommy Aquinas. I grew up in eIreland but left to travel cos I was sick of the fighting and arguing all the time. Guess what, it got worse. I still follow the Irish news, and it’s pretty laughable at the moment. So I said I’d help my old country out but giving them this article. I joined your forum, looked at your “constitution” and “laws”, cut the crap and here I am presenting it to you now. It took around 30 minutes, compared to your days and weeks and months of in-fighting and complaining. Sometimes having an objective voice can help, and I got a bit sick of watching you fight, so I said I'd do the work for you. Feel free to vote and subscribe.
Your forums are a bit messy. From what I gather, you only have about four laws that are worth keeping: War Council, Ceann Comhairle, Dail activeness signin thingy and the voting procedure. Everything else, is just policy of your cabinet or previous cabinets. That should be looked at, revised and plonked somewhere in your congress for people to improve in the future.
And without further ado, here’s your revised constitution, lol! For those who flinch at the thought of law, I put the short simplified version above it to tell you what it means. So if you disagree with anything, let it be the short version. Although it's not complicated at all, and it doesnt mean total anarchy like that funny article the other day said. Anyway, troll away folks?
Short simple version:
*You’re Irish and you can’t break the rules of the game.
*You’re Irish, so ye use the names TD and Taoiseach.
*You have to be Irish to be the Taoiseach, you can’t be President forever, and don’t let someone rob all your stuff in an invasion.
*The President looks after the cabinet, unless someone is really p****d off with either the cabinet or the President.
*The congress discusses stuff, votes and takes action. And ye decide the rules of how everything is decided yourselves. But stick to the rules.
*If you have a knob in your nation, find a way to deal with him.
*Feel free to change it.
Actual version
Article 1: Ireland and her citizens
1.1 Ireland is a sovereign, independent, democratic state.
1.2 All citizens must abide by the laws of common decency and the laws of eRepublik.
Article 2: An Taoiseach
2.1 The current office of the President shall be known as the office of An Taoiseach.
2.2 To become An Taoiseach, a citizen must have citizenship of Ireland for at least sixty (60) consecutive days upon being elected.
2.3 Taoisigh may hold a maximum of three (3) consecutive offices. There is no limit on the number of non-consecutive offices Taoisigh can hold.
2.4 An Taoiseach shall have the sole right to create government sanctioned ministries. An Taoiseach reserves the sole right to dissolve government sanctioned ministries within 5 days of their appointment. Thereafter, An Taoiseach reserves the right to dissolve government sanctioned ministries, subject to a vote of Dáil Eireann. An Taoiseach reserves the right to dismiss Ministers as he sees fit.
2.5 In the event of an invasion in-game, the Taoiseach may take any measures necessary for the protection of the Irish Treasury and Nation.
Article 3: Dáil Eireann
3.1 The Congress of Ireland shall be known as Dáil Éireann and members of Dáil Éireann shall be known as Teachtaí Dála, or Teachta Dála in singular form.
3.2 All legislation must be proposed, debated and voted upon before it becomes law. The method and duration of debate and voting will be determined by Dáil Eireann according to its rules. Any changes to the method and duration of voting must be passed by 2/3 majority of active Dail Eireann.
3.3 Teachtaí Dála can call for a vote of impeachment of the Taoiseach, by providing grounds for impeachment. The vote must pass by a 2/3 majority of the active Dail. Teachtaí Dála can call for a vote of impeachment of a Minister if they feel that a Minister is not performing to a satisfactory standard, by providing grounds for impeachment. The vote must be passed by two-thirds (2/3) of active Dáil Éireann. Should the vote pass, An Taoiseach must dismiss the Minister in question, or be subject to grounds for impeachment.
3.4 For citizens who break the laws of common decency or the laws of eRepublik, means of action against those citizens can be determined by Dáil Eireann.
3.5 Any part of this Constitution may be amended and any proposal to amend the Constitution must be proposed by a Teachta Dála and passed by two-thirds (2/3) majority of active members of Dáil Éireann

Defunct and over with
Everything else. I include IDF, war games, alliance stuff (did you know you observe at Sol?) and company plans and stuff in that as surely you’ll change everything around for V2. Here’s your clean slate fellows. Keep what’s good.
Idea for scrapping all your supreme court stuff and replacing it with a working idea:
Ideas
Why doesn’t someone go back over the dail stuff for the last few months, pick out the ideas that might still be relevant and decisions which need to be made re army/companies/V2, type them up in an article entitled “Ireland’s to-do-list” and work on them together from there. Everything else – all Dáil stuff, archives, laws, the works – just move them all into a corner of the forums and don’t think of them again. So you’ll have a fresh start, and a fresh set of challenges to overcome together. That means you can use the last days of this lost month for eIreland, and be ready to hit the ground running next month.
That’s all from me folks,
Tommy

lol, at least the trolls care about their spellings..
Yes, yes, more of the same.
I read your idea, Mr. O'Shea, and supported it if I recall, but I think it got defeated? At least, that's what I heard. Then I read another of your articles giving out, and thought that I was seeing, as you say - more of the same. So at least I'm trying to help out.
Yes, yes, but why not come to the Private dail section of the irish forums and contribute your ideas to the discussion I have re-opened on the proposal.
Thank you for the support but theres no point in everyone talking endlessly about it, lets DO something.
That is very good stuff Tommy. However, Bryan did a very similar thing and it got shot down for no good reason.
@ Bryan, I can't go into the private dail, so how can I contribute.
@ John Thanks, I'm not sure why his one was rejected.
Well if there is no good reason to shoot it down then it needs to be reintroduced. If no one can come up with a good reason not to do it then I would say it should be obvious that it should pass. (Because I don't like you is not a good reason) We KNOW what we are doing now is not working so let's try something different. People can say they think it won't work but they don't KNOW that it won't work unless we TRY it. If we try and it does not work then we change it. We need to TRY. Good job Tommy.
The current law/policy bit is the most interesting..... even the distinction you've created between law and policy is interesting🙂
The one thing I feel is lacking is a law which states that breach of government policy are grounds for impeachment of Presidential appointments/deputies rather than personal issues being sufficient grounds...
SSV works for me.
Rest tl:dr ofc, as I find with all this superfluous suit-stuff.
(No special offense to you.)
Good, but I mighta starred-out my curses, just in case there were any wains or auldies in da house.
Well done.
Nice way to use a spare half hour.
Burn it all down!
Game mechanics FTW!!!
Burn it all down +1
If elected I promise to not follow the constitution 🙂
Burn it down, and go back to square one. 😉
Vote Murchadh
I support this version of the constitution.
Simple, effective and covers everything! 🙂
We're not oil-drenched mechanics around here...
we're politicians, soldiers and poets 😉
Burn down the game mechanics! Blast them with our words!
i support the simple version to be our official constitution 🙂
I really like this, Tommy. Sorry we fell out of touch. Hopefully you'll be around in Ireland sometime?
@ Tommy, the discussion is in PUBLIC DAIL.
Where it has always been.
This isnt detialed enough, its taking the piss if anything.
I think it's as detailed as you need. What else would you put in it? Keep adding stuff and you'll end up with the old one, no? And then people will be changing it? I thought you didn't want the forum legislation route? Having a couple of short and simple laws/rules to back up a short and simple constitution (that 1 is about 1/3 of the length of the current one) means that life should be simple, unless you choose to make it not so.
