Yonai Keiko - South Korea's MoM

Day 995, 17:44 Published in South Korea France by Yonai Keiko

As some of you might know, I've been appointed to be the Minister of Media for President Grease's first term. Now what exactly does a Minister of Media do, you might ask? As I understand it, I am responsible for keeping our wiki page up to date and stimulating the media as best as I can. I shall do my best in fulfilling this position, and hopefully I won't let our new President down.

Before I get into some plans for the Ministry, I thought I'd share a little personal history for those of you who don't know me. I was born on Day 334 of the New World, a few days after Beta ended and v1 began. Basically, I joined a long long time ago. I was born in Japanese-occupied Korea at the time, and when South Korea was liberated for the first time, I moved to Gyeongsangnam-do. I went through the motions of eLife and was elected to the first Congress of eSouth Korea in November 2008. I remained in eSouth Korea (with the exception of a few brief weeks in eCanada) until the JaSKo Union was formed in June 2009. I was then in eJapan working with the remnants of the eSouth Korean community until the second liberation of eSouth Korea in August. Following the Theocratic takeover I moved back to eJapan for a little more than a month before I immigrated, with a number of friends, to eAustria in December. I was elected to Congress a number of times in eAustria and served as Minister of Defence until I quit eRepublik in February. After a few months away, I returned this past June to find my lovely home free and in the best situation it had ever been in. I've been actively posting in the media these last two months and I hope to bring my knowledge of eSouth Korean history to the table and put it to good use.

So what exactly do I plan on doing in my position? My first goal is to do some serious editing on our wiki page, particularly in the history section. To be quite frank, most of the history is written in a biased fashion. I know some people have made great efforts to maintain the wiki and ensure that it has valid information, but there still remains a lot of information missing, and quite a few points of inaccuracy. I'll be contacting some of the early citizens of eSouth Korea that are still around and hopefully collaborating with them on a largely more accurate history for all the interested new citizens of our nation to enjoy.

My other major initiative will be helping newer players publish articles. As most of you know, it costs 2 gold to establish a newspaper. In these tough global economic conditions, when even old, experienced players like myself have a tough time raising small amounts of gold, getting the necessary gold to make a newspaper is hard for the newest members of our society. Now, I can't afford to fun the establishments of newspapers for all of our new players, but what I can do is offer the use of my won newspaper. Any citizen of eSouth Korea that wishes to publish an article may do so through my newspaper. Simply send me a private message that includes the article immediately. These articles can be about anything; international eNews; opinion articles on prominent national issues; real life Korean history; your cat; etc. I'll also be considering a payment system for those who do write articles to be posted through my newspaper. Obviously the pay per article is not going to be high, but every little bit helps when your salary can barely cover the price of food.

That's about it for now. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to shoot me a private message.
