Yet Another Round of Party Elections Passes
Laurana Psion
I am pleased to announce that once again, the ZS will be resuming our service of miscellaneous "infotainment" and without further ado, I would like to jump right in.
First of all, I bring to you a brief coverage of the results of yesterday's party elections. In my humble opinion, they have been anything but interesting, seeing no real change of leadership in any of the "Big Five", these being the National Alliance Party, Orange Party, Imperial Sun Party, Kageki Minshutou, and last but definitely not the least, the Tequila Fitness Club. For your convenience, the current party leaders are noted below in order of the largest party.
National Alliance Party: Akki
Orange Party: Geno Garon
Imperial Sun Party: Tohru
Kageki Minshutou: Kokawayoshi Makoto
Tequila Fitness Club: Origineel.NL
Liberal Party of Japan: Hitoshi Makoto
United Lolies of Japan: Yuuko
The Black Dragon Party: Hey Joe
Korea Independence Party: Alfagrem
Truth about Attaturk: Dan Olivaw
Democratic Party of Korea: Neon Seravee
Partai Tot Jing Su: lati
Verity: Verity
Being just recently returned from the dead, I hardly think that I am yet in any real position to offer an in depth analysis of these parties, whether regarding their current manifesto, leadership or performance. However, there is one thing I can offer and that is a report on the current activity of our population.
What the monthly party elections also tell us is how many amongst us actually vote. Obviously, our citizens each of have their own lives to lead and may not always be free to visit the forums or the irc channel. Nevertheless, I would think that those who are active would at least try to do the few simple clicks per day and that would naturally include voting on election days. As such, voting can be seen as the minimum level of activity of those who are currently active, and thus, we can determine the activity of our population.
To this end, I have prepared a spreadsheet.(Because I know we all just lurrrrve a sexy spreadsheet)
What I have found is that despite our current population of just over 1000, only 17% is active, assuming that those who vote also take part in mainstream society to some extent. A superficial examination would suggest that this is quite frankly rather pathetic and symbolic of a nationwide apathy. This however is not as bad is it may seem. Only 34% of our total population is actually affiliated with a specific party and as such, the majority of our population cannot be accounted for through party elections. In fact, there are citizens who are very active but still are unaligned politically. This is demonstrated by the slightly larger turn outs in the congressional and presidential elections, which are open to all citizens.
Therefore, I would say that 17% errs on the side of caution but is generally a reasonable measure of our activity. Indeed, comparing our presidential election turnout with other larger countries puts us in a very respectable light, being generally higher than most larger countries and above the average turnout of those larger nations!
However, recent statistics have shown erratic changes in different nation's populations, with some experiencing a drastic decrease and others a spike in numbers. As such, my current data and my resulting conclusions are far from perfect.
Nevertheless, I would believe that they are fairly accurate if compared to similar data taken just over half a year ago. Activity during party elections then and now are both 20% (rounded to the nearest 10😵
of the total population. Furthermore, our population is likely bloated with many citizens who are pretty much departed from this world, with low wellness and nearing death, and thus, our percentage of activity is likely higher still.
In conclusion, I applaud our population for what is actually a strong commitment to this country, and hope that in time it will become stronger still.
May Japan and her fair Empress live long and prosper, and as may you, my valued reader!

Good job! 😛
絶望した!
Only 17% of 34%? Let's just hope yesterday was a fluke day, or voter turnout was so low because most of the major party leaders were running unopposed.
Reiji: That's 17% of ~1000 and 34% of ~1000. Sorry if it was confusing. 😛
Party leaders being returned unopposed tends to indicate a certain level of satisfaction with the status quo.
Kyushu's got it right. Also, most of the major parties have their Party Presidents as Cabinet members as well, so the actions of that PP are pretty visible in the public sector. Active Party Presidents are pretty hard to unseat.
Good to see That the good article have also returned.
Kyushu/Geno: Yeah. It would seem that our politics is nice and stable right now which is always good for long term planning. My main interest was just to see how much relative activity has changed since when I left... that is hardly at all 😛. I mean the population count is pretty vague on its own... my character alone took about 5 months just to die. Just think of all the others who never return...
Everyone else, thanks for your support and comments. Feel free to leave suggestions too.
Hi, I just moved here from eUSA. It's kind of nice to see a lot of parties even with a small population. eUSA is dominated by one party that is running the place like the Mafia.
We have too many parties. Its due to two countries' worth of parties. The six smallest ones are Korean.
The politica power in the OP was robbed by the evil Genogaron 😛
