WTP's Recent Growth

As mentioned in my first article, I am a returning player. My original account was purged due to inactivity, but I figured since I'm in quarantine, I might as well pick up erep again. To tell the truth, I'm sort of glad my old account is gone, because a fresh start sure has been nice.

I've seen mentions here and there of people saying WTP's vote count in today's congress election is due to bots or cheating. Well, you're welcome to investigate, but I don't think you'll find much.

I'll sort of piggy back off this article and offer my perspective:

I have a hunch we've been having a baby boom because of the quarantine. I can't speak to how many new players there seemed to have been 2 months ago, but I can speak to a genuine influx of new players that I've seen recently. Once we accept that a baby boom has taken/is taking place, we can speculate which party(s) will get most of the new players.

My original plan when I picked up the game again was actually to join the Feds, because they were the party I was most familiar with from back when I played before. You'll notice the first MU I joined was EZC. Something changed my mind, however. It was a welcome message. It was the only welcome message I got, and it was sent by the now-PP of WTP. To put my reaction in context, there was a time when I would send 50+ welcome messages a day on behalf of my party. It was a time when people fought for the role of recruiter, and a top 5 party leaving that job undone was unthinkable. And now I am seeing a day where all but 1 party just doesn't do it.

So you're welcome to report me for multis or investigate for bots, if you'll be so salty, but I don't think that path will yield much fruit. If you'd like to share in the electoral gains, step up and work for it. Create enthusiasm.

It has been a culture shock coming back to a country that no longer has 500-vote articles and where the media mongul medal is now out of reach, but I'm not ready to quit again just yet. I'm sure I'll be seeing most of you readers around.
