Why V2 Will Weaken America
AidenAstrup
For those who haven't been invited to the V2 beta, the new military module is revolutionary. To be honest, I am just thrilled about V2 and all the brand new features it will bring - not to mention the fact that it will finally heal the global economic slump that has faced all industries. That being said, there is one part of the new release which drives me absolutely insane.
There is only one reason I fight and train everyday - because it takes two seconds. I login in the morning and quickly work, train, fight and heal - do my RL stuff - come home - do t'jelle stuff, and then shut off for the day... and I am not alone. Most of America's citizens just quickly login and get their stuff done and maybe spend a little time on the forums, but the heart of this game is the fact that you can spend 5 minutes everyday and then be done (granted I spend like an hour). The new military module however, requires at least 3 minutes to really do anything, and then if you want to actually cause damage and actually affect the outcome you have to spend at least another 5-8 minutes on top of that. The military module is so wonderful and complex and awesome, that it takes dedication to master the system.
While this specialization is wonderful for those military lovers, we could face a large decrease in fighting power because citizens just simply stop fighting. If they stop fighting, they will lose interest in training and then even if we manage to get them fighting again, we will have a huge horde of weak citizens. While I would like to say that I will stay above that and train/fight everyday - I won't. Even now, while I am excited to be a part of V2 Beta, I simply lose interest waiting for other players and the other side and choosing what to do and moving around.
This isn't to say that admin should change anything, I think V2 is absolutely brilliant, but I do believe that the US must restructure the military and begin thinking about having sections dedicated to artillery, infantry, etc which would have a dozen or so units highly trained and equipped with tons of Gold and the best weapons who can make up for the slack created by a loss of fighting power from the everyday Americans who make up a vast amount of our society.

HAI GUYS
V
The INCREDIBLE loading time it'll take and the hundreds of clicks on the refresh button to escape the bugs should add an extra 30 minutes.
V2 will change the kind of player. I think the total number of them will be reduced or at least the number that optimize their play.
Exactly O'Darth
Im planning on doing the functional equivalent of two clicking for the most part (Work/Library), but I imagine most people wont choose that route and will quit instead
woohoo! a reply from aiden! me feel special
I feel you on the war module. I actually like the one we have now.
I know some people who currently don't fight in V1 because the fighting is boring, so V2 may cause some citizens to re-engage in fighting. It may also attract new players altogether.
I think it will be the opposite. Sure V2 fighting will take a bit longer but it will be a lot more entertaining. Right now fighting is incredibly boring, you click 5 times and then heal. Now you get to use strategy and teamwork as well as fight another person instead of a stupid wall.
Also people need to realize that the people who leave because of V2 aren't all going to be Americans so if America is weakened then other countries would likely be weakened as well.
I'm pretty sure the military is already making plans of reshaping their strategies.
I'm not doing the Beta but V2 sounds interesting.
I like the simplicity already here but I think a lot of people leave after realizing that the game can be accomplished in less than a minute every day and has no substance beyond what the community brings to it. (I'm pro community so eRep works for me.)
The thought of having some tactics to our battles is intriguing. Of course, the crap-hat full of lag from last night's battle for Lion King sounds like it will be a regular evening around here post-V2. Uhg.
If eRep can't handle the clicking as it is what the hell are they thinking when they add a dozen more clicks for people?
Are they /counting/ on most of us leaving...?
I agree that more people won't fight because of how long it will take, but I'm not sure if they'll stop 2clicking. Setting hours doesn't take 3 min, and the flexibility it provides might encourage people to get involved.
/me crosses sugar.
You have to think though, there are people who spend like 6 hours a day on WoW which is incredibly complex, so maybe it will appeal to the "hardcore gamers" which would be nice, however eRepublik doesn't appeal to them atm with it's simplicity and not so hot graphics, so it won't appeal to much of anyone i guess. I'm going full economy too 😉
Fighting is more Complicated in V2.
Look on the bright side: that will mean the less dedicated players won't overload the servers for the dedicated players. (They should get to fight too, and be able to enjoy the game, but I'm trying to stay positive. 😛).
It's starting to look like the best strategy for the defending side might just be to get as many people opening the battlefield at once as possible.
I would assume there should be a limit on waiting time for the oposing players action in a fight... thats how it usualy works like in most games...
the days of greatness is number😞
Is this seriously supposed to be more entertaining? Waiting 2 and a half minutes + lag time to move a little icon 2 spaces down a hex grid?
Gimme a break.. V1 is ugly but at least it doesn't drag on forever.

Not to mention the fight's are chaotic as well. Get ready to blow some G's if you plan on participating in the war module in V2. The beginners will be able to take your Q5 tank's armor down to 40% almost every time. Only way to heal quickly is through wellness packs.
I love the rest of V2 however. I bought a company in beta testing and there is a lot of hands on manipulation involved.
I guess I will just wait and see if I like it.
Its going to be a massive gold drain that will destroy the economy and our ability to wage war.
@vanek26... true dat
fighting a wall already enough for the crappy server to fall just think what flash can do :{P
Haha, the US isn't re-branching already? I thought you guys were better than that.
We nailed down finite preparations months ago.
I think a bigger issue is going to be that the V2 battles require Flash. I don't have access to the numbers, but I imagine a fair amount of people use mobile devices to check in or periodically play the game. V2 breaks that. It's sad to see the Admins choose this technology. Until now, it was only required to view the map.
I'm playing the Beta for the fighting purposes and if you look at my fighting stats... not too impressive. But the Beta... WOW!!! Way for exciting. Yeah, its time consuming but if your on a Forum or IRC... Time flies.... I was playing my Xbox last night while fighting... Assassins Creed is killer to my fighting... I missed the 3 minute window a couple of times. It may seem like forever but for me atleast... Its not...
Good thinking Aiden... never thought of that. Even though I would love to spend an hour or so constantly fighting... I just simply can not afford it. That is the other half of the problem! Those that are dedicated, simply can't afford it. :/
Oh and agreed with Mithcellz. 😁
I get on IRC and what not as well. And if they do the ALERT ALERT like they do in Beta for V2... you should be able to hear and get on for your turn 😉
V2=gold drain
My concern is that people who are not able to be on at the end of a fight may feel that they're not actually contributing. It would be nice if there were a wall that needed to be brought down as well ... influenced by the PvP fights on the field but something that 2 clickers can do so they can fight and then get on with their day.

Greetings from Romania
OH GOD WE'LL HAVE TO ACTUALLY PLAY THE GAME NOW
Fuck this place, its on fire.
Lots of people have valid points. If the federal government finds it will need more money for all this fighting in V2, then it will have a serious debt problem between that and paying back TWO issuances of bonds.
v2 will not weaken USA,u have money, and pay for this game (which is sad,cuz u lose rather than win)...again capitalism and admin greed defeted brave heart and nationalism 🙁
@Lazar: MM2 aside, most Americans don't spend a dime on the game.
If it's true that V2 requires players to spend enough gold to send out their credit card numbers and pay, most Americans will drop it like a hot rock.
i'm glad to hear that some of u dont give money for stupid virtual things...but the truth is that u are the main buyer of gold in game,u can't dissagree! thats why the small coutries like croatia or serbia will sufer the most while u will continue to play a good game following admin greed and new rules 🙂
V2 will weaken eUSA. As a matter of fact V2 will weaken most of the eCountries. Actually, the only thing V2 will strengthen is investors bank account.
The new rules of engagement are clear: lose 75% of the tiles, lose the hospital and you lose the battle. I don't know if other people have encounter this situation but I remember a eRomania vs eHungary battle (IN V2) without a hospital where the only way to recover wellness was the wellness pack. Not to mention that regardless if you're winning or loosing your wellness is messed up big time. You could end up with 20-34 wellness while the hopsital provides you with 25 wellness points max.
I think people will stop fighting or giving up the game all together not because the fight takes too much but because the new version is rubbish and biased.
Worst case scenario - USA wakes up and finds that some european countries have decided to attack USA while most of people in the USA were sleeping. 60% of the tile are already taken, the hospital is already destroyed. At that point you no longer think the game is brilliant. Why? Because simply, it isn't. Actually is far from being brilliant.
And the new war module will also destroy the economic module. In V2 most people will have to be part of a military unit. I don't think a person having a company would like the idea of receiving in the morning 5-6 messages like: Sorry, I had to quit because my military unit has asked me to deploy to X country. I'll be back in 5 days 🙁
I think it will have a little of both effect. Yeah less dedicated players will quit the game or just the war module but it will also make the more dedicated players more interested and check multiple times a day to see how the battle is going. It would also give commanding officers work their brains more with military tactics like flanking or holding strategic tiles like bridges or keep tiles to allow tanks to keep traveling foward.
