Why Should I Vote?
Paddy OBrien
Time for elections to the Dail approach, and I'd like to discuss some of the reasons I feel this will be an important election in eIreland.
The super alliance TWO has dissolved recently. This has led to the current scramble to form new alliances in our world. We've been neutral in recent months, but there has been an interest in perhaps joining a new alliance with some of our friends. This appears to have been either shot down or seriously hindered by eCroatia, one of our strongest allies, deciding they would rather have the eUK, one of our deepest enemies, rather than us as a founding member of a new alliance. It will be up to the administration and the Dail to determine our official response to this and determine the course we will take during these times.
We may possibly have a new CP. Currently declared candidates are our current CP, Bhane, and our current Prime Minister, Don Croata. While we are not voting on the CP race at this election, we will be selecting the Dail that they will be working with.
The new Dail will also be facing the first renewal of our rental agreement with the eUSA. If it is renewed, and paid for, they will also be deciding how the funds will be spent. Last month's choice was to upgrade training grounds for citizens. Possible choices for this month will be to continue the upgrade program, set up a CO fund for defensive purposes, improve the commune infrastructure for MU's, and to disburse the funds equally in a cash payout to citzens.
***Editor's note*** The Dail does not have direct control over these funds. They are received into the treasury and are under the control of the CP and MoF. Last month, Bhane chose to have the Dail make the decision of how the funds should be dispersed. It is hoped whomever wins the next and future elections will continue this practice.
Our Dail members also control immigration passes to our enation, taking responsibility for guarding us against those who would wish to come here to do harm. Along with this, they have the ability to pass laws concerning Natural Enemies, taxes, minimum wage, donation of treasury funds, and presidential impeachment.
As you can see, the persons we elect to the Dail are very important. All citizens need to take the time to decide what party they feel will best represent them in the Dail and vote for that party on the 25th.

The CP article comes later 🙂
oh you know, all is said. just wait and see the next weeks.
I've been Irish President 4 times, after getting Ireland wiped I've left the game because I was dissapointed of it.
It's hardly my fault we got wiped, we've been tricked by our "allies". Instead of blaming me, maybe you should blame them
Also, I left eIreland only once.
we all are disappointed at a moment, i can understand that.
i don't blame you especially, i just make a prediction i feel not far from what will happen, sadly.
we'll see not an obligation to develop more i think.
Actually, the Dail doesn't necessarily get to decide where the money from the rental goes, it's just what happened last month as there was a lot of noise about the whole arrangement to begin with.
That is true. I'm hoping whomever wins this month will continue the practice, as I think it's a better method than the CP deciding alone.
Editing to reflect that.
I disagree, congress is a hive of factionalism and discord, no one agrees with anyone if they can help it.
If I were elected CP, I'd have a public consultation to weigh opinions and then choose the best fit based on that. That's how I rolled when I was President before, worked very well and cut through all the factional BS cleanly.
That is the story of our politics. You'd still be bringing it up for discussion, which is what I would like to see. I don't think the CP should unilaterally decide what to do with the funds.
Good article.
Every player should vote, in every election.
Every voice should be heard.
Nice article.
Thank you. I'm studying with the masters to improve 🙂
Indeed. A great deal of reading to do. Stupid me trying to be informed.
Still can't decide on a party. If I recall correctly, when I was a newb (and I kind of am, again), it took me a couple months to align myself with a party.
Also, even though I'm already subscribed, I unsubbed and subscribed again so I could say that I voted and subscribed. 😛
Lol. Come to Independent Voices, all we want you to be aligned with is a strong and safe eIreland 🙂
As I told Tritto,
"My friend, I appreciate the sentiment. In fact, years ago I was a part of it (after the Irish Radical Party crumbled - the original one of poets and thinkers). Even helped block a PTO attempt under the IV banner.
Alas, too much has changed in the nearly 3 years I've been gone. I am still reading up on the various parties that we currently have. Then and only then can I make an informed decision as to which party I wish to align myself with."
Trito, begging pardon. One T, not two.
I can respect that. I'd rather see an informed citizen make a choice rather than just grabbing the first invitation sent along.
