Olivia Munn+ Daily Show, how awesome is that 😮
So eRepublik Rising...
I have to say that my feelings going into Rising were pessimistic at best. I was always a big fan of the admins fixing V1 before they tried to move on. The reason I liked V1 so much was because the US had it figured out. At least for the period from WW III on. WW III forged above all an intelligent core of US players. I am not just talking about the people in leadership positions. Since WW III the people who frequent our forums and are active in the US know their game mechanics fairly well. They understood the underlying policies that formed the core of our country; Stuff>Gold, Fortress Strategy, tax policies.
This is why I was worried going into V2. We would have to re-educate a whole new generation of players, as well as ourselves on the do's and dont's of eRepublik Rising. This seemed like a daunting task and one that our nation may not be up for.
However, now that I think on it more and more, the task of learning new modules and of defining new ideas is exactly what we need. V1 had become sort of a stale educational and creative opportunity for many. New players had no new ideas to push (not necessarily their fault) and likewise older players were tired of re-explaining the same ideas over and over.
V2 offers a refreshed and renewed opportunity to not only discover new ideas but to bring them to a greater audience. Before when someone wanted to learn about V1 we usually directed them to FAQs or guides. One eyes threads, various "how to fight articles" were all to familiar as replies to "I iz newb I need help".
One of the things that helped to educate our players and raise the general intelligence of our community were the debates we had. V1 saw debates over PANEC, Hospitals, Meals On Wheels. These debates reaffirmed our knowledge, served as teaching lessons and as public question and answer time. I hope that in the coming days, months and weeks we will take up new debates. While eRepublik has not totally changed, a good deal has shifted. We need to reconsider, recollect and rediscover. What better way to do this then in an open air conversation, where all reasonable ideas are valued and considered.
eRepublik Rising offers the eUS a chance to achieve all over again. Prior to thinking about this opportunity I was scared of the idea of re-education. Now I am convinced that this task of rediscovering the game, its new modules and opportunities will define our nation. The US in V1 was defined by the debates we had. These debates benefited us and built us up. Now we have a chance to do the same. Now is the time for us to have a conversation about what is new, what is old and where we are heading. Rising has changed eRepublik, however we will decide whether it changes us for the better. One thing I do know is that a nation ignorant of the game and ignorant of how it steers itself through that game, will not succeed.

Cautiously optimistic
p.s. In an attempt at self-whoring I am asking for people to nominate me in the contest for the best eUS newspaper. Kthnx, dont forget to sub and vote 😁

I agree
This man makes sense, even if he's a dirty Spaniard.
😛
I agree.
I kinda like the challenge, tbh
when I grow up, I want to be cool like you, Gaius.
Gaius, will you pet me?
"However, now that I think on it more and more, the task of learning new modules and of defining new ideas is exactly what we need. V1 had become sort of a stale educational and creative opportunity for many."
yup, and maybe older players who had too much time on their hands will no longer be bored now there is so much to learn. Expect the number of lulz disasters to go down over the next little while.

Not sold yet on V2, but your point is valid, and, over time, will probably prove true and valuable.
Olivia Munn was better on AOTS.
and that's way i voted for Gaius Julius in The Best eRepublikans.
Agreed and voted. I think that the reeducation process will be the first big rush, and will the first real advantage to every country in this game. We are producing a lot of articles about the V2 practice here, but in portuguese.
Greetings from the enemies of Brasil!
Agreed
Don't sweat it.
We'll figure it out.

Olivia Munn+ Daily Show, how awesome is that 😮
^this
One of the major reasons people stay in this game is because they like to learn new things. First and foremost, eRep is a community of learning addicts.
Brian Peacecraft likes this article. voted & subbed
I too am thrilled at Olivia Munn being on Daily Show now. Too bad she isn't on Attack of the Show now..
Great post Gaius!
V2 definitely resparked my interest in eRepublik.
+1 Veronica. Same here.
Woho go Galius 😃
The economic module is not as bad as I suspected but the military module is crap.
I'll have this debate with you, then: I disagree. I think all of our efforts should be put toward urging Admin to revert back to V1 and fix its problems. It's not worth putting the work into learning this broken game.
and Zeutheir I'll have this debate; V1 was as broken (though lest often) I would rather see a change that could possibly draw new ideas and new energy than an old sucky module.
Gaius,
Expect articles from me soon to further our understanding and add to the debate ; )
Yep,that is.I agree.
The fallacy in the article is that it assumes that the "Great War" generation had everything squared away. Well, after the war was over, all these guys did was turn off their brains and let us all down. I have no respect for that. There is a larger dimension to this game than just game mechanics. Making it more complex only underscores the underlying issue. Let us never again play for points alone, just to see who gets to be King of the Hill.
I've met Olivia Munn before.
She's one stuck up hottie.
Second good article I've read today and this one is right up there with Joe's. voted/subscribed.
"Why learning about V2 will help us grow"
Who's this article targeted at with such an idiotic headline?
Also, Olivia Munn may be hot, but she knows nothing about video games and still isn't funny.
