Why I'm Running for Party President

Day 503, 07:48 Published in USA USA by HeadmistressTalia

The Party Presidency is coming up and I have thrown my hat into the ring. You may ask yourself: Why?

The current party president has gone inactive. We all noticed the results of that inactivity this past election season – the Libertarians could only unofficially endorse a candidate. Nor could we select someone to run as a Libertarian. So we need an active party president.

I think I qualify as active – I’ve served two terms in Congress and have just been appointed to the Economic Council. I ran the unofficial endorsement campaign. And I want us to do better.

Right now the Libertarian Party is one of the top 5 parties in the eUS. But we wield all the power of a bottom 5 party. Why? Well because we’re Libertarians.

What? Well Libertarians value the individual first. We think we can take care of ourselves and don’t need any governmental interference. We’re constitutionally disinclined to ANYTHING approaching organization. We just see it as unnecessary overhead.

Well sorry, that kind of thinking will always keep us in the bottom 5. If we want to actually INFLUENCE the face of eUS politics we need to get organized. And that’s what I want to do.

How many of you know we havea forum? I can tell you that we get as much participation from people in other parties than we do from actual Libertarians.

We have over 700 members. But less than 20 participated in the election polling. How do you expect to have influence with crappy numbers like that?

So I want to change things. But I can’t without YOUR help. So if you want to see us become a REAL top 5 party I not only need your vote, but your participation. Are you up to it? I hope you are.
