Why I joined TUP

As our country builds itself up for another round of Party President Elections, TUP once again is in the headlines. With the main candidatures revolving around Maddog and Indiekid, the party once again fields a host of fantastic and exciting prospective players who want to do their own bit helping both party and state.

But if you talk to citizens across the country, I can guarantee every single one has heard of The Unity Party (whether good or bad). Something about this party always strikes a chord with the most diehard of eUK players.

Regarded as the bourgeois establishment by political competitors (mainly PCP), it is a party driven by its commitment to help improve the eUK in becoming a better country. Initially, I didn’t believe that. In my naive and noobie view of the eUK’s leading political party, I assumed I would have no chance of succeeding. And with players like Karacticus, Woldy, Iain Keers and Malta 1990 renowned for their involvement in the party, it’s not that hard to see my thinking. Now, chatting with the likes of Frerk, John Forseti and Sir Mic on IRC, I know realise how wrong I was, and what I originally missed.

After a disastrous PP campaign in my first party (TSP), I decided on a fresh attempt at politics. Although still new considered the veteran political juggernauts of Dishmcds, John Bartlett and the likes, I felt I was ready to try my hand at a more prolific party. Having already built a socialist political affiliation, I decided to give TUP a go. Surely they’d want me now when I have become a bit more experienced, right? Well, yes and no. TUP welcomed me with open arms, but after reading some of their private forum topics and checking out the TUP private channel, I soon realised something. Shocking as it was, TUP actually wanted new players! From this somewhat shocking revelation, I realised that TUP were not the mean, nasty, egotistical giant portrayed by its rivals. It was open, accessible and full of experienced players willing to help train and educate the new generation of players. Feeling as foolish as I was, I knuckled down and got stuck in.

Joining a party that was actually active and full of ideas was something I needed to adjust to. Even though The Socialist Party was an amazing experience, it lacked activity and willing contributors to move forward. In TUP, everyone’s opinion was valued, with membership bursting with activity (compared to other parties). Ideas varying from increase forum activity, CP candidates and more were being passed around, with every single person having a unique idea on each topic. Being as forum active as I was, I was finally in my element. And almost immediately, I was hooked.

Some may criticise this as purely a propaganda tool. But I digress. TUP is like every other party. We are to represent our country, and do what is right for the people. However much we’d love to get every single eUK player on to our forums, we realise this will never happen. Most players prefer the slow pace, and would rather keep themselves to themselves, rather than getting involved in the mudslinging more commonly used by our more active citizen. But with the newer generation of players like myself finally getting involved in the country, I hope to see that anyone who would love to get involved, they would consider The Unity Party; as I cannot recommend any party more willing to do good for this community.

To conclude, every single player in the eUK has their own ideological views on what is best for this nation, and everyone should respect that. But from my perspective, TUP ticked all the boxes and a whole lot more for me. So, why shouldn’t it for you?
