The preceding Country President Election was an interesting one indeed. After a battle one the Unity front between Jason Statham Jr. and John Killah, John Killah was able to walk away with three out of the top four endorsements (the AMP, USWP, and Federalist Party). From this, he moved onto the national stage, versus Candor, a Nos Party candidate supported by the American Freedom Alliance, primarily due to the fact that he advocated for the return of 100/100 bonuses (amongst other things). Alongside this issue, Candor stood in support of the AFA’s policy of trading citizenship for party membership, when he stated that citizenship shouldn’t have any regulation, and that congressmen ought be allowed to decide upon whichever criteria they deem valuable. In addition to this, the AFA would definitely support Candor in this situation, as the AFA was able to bring in the brunt of their foreign voters during the period of 100/100 bonuses, and have stagnated since that point in time.

However, John Killah was able to easily defeat Candor in the national election, with a 21%, or 500 vote, differential between them. John has since announced a few new plans for the presidency, as well as appointed the previously mentioned slew of officials to deal with the powers and responsibilities of government. It’s going to be a pretty interesting term, in my opinion.

Weekly Debate: This is a segment that I would like to try out. It’s basically where anyone in America can pick an eTopic, write an article stating their case, and then get a response from the WHPR about it. Send Civil Anarchy a message if you’re interested in publishing a topic, and I’ll make sure to have a response ready in the next WHPR. Be mindful, these debates should be constructive, so kindly don’t pick anything overtly silly. Without further ado, A Defense of Unity

Over the past few months, some individuals in the country have attacked the Unity Process, calling it ‘useless and unnecessary.’ Specifically, some of the arguments against the process have been recently published here, but allow me to sum it up for you. Technically speaking, the non-PTO parties have a majority in Congress, meaning, we’re able to control whether or not MPPs get passed, donations are passed, ect. This means that for a lot of procedural foreign policy, the country president doesn’t really have that much say anyway. In addition to this, taxes and economic matters go to Congress as a whole. Theoretically speaking, Congress absolutely could function with a PTO CP, and even though we only have barely enough congressmen (exactly 66😵 to facilitate an impeachment, we could operate and survive.

However, the question becomes at what quality will our government operate? IRL, I’m a debater, and this is the first parallel that I thought of. Sure, I could survive if I allowed my arm to be cut off, but would I really want it to happen? I mean, I could technically do most of the same things with one arm, at lower efficiency of course. Honestly, the reality of the situation is the fact that allowing a PTO candidate to take the office would be a terrible idea, not because it would cause the total collapse of government, but because it would likely lead to that shortly after its occurrence.

So what do we lose by having a Unity Election? We don’t have normal mechanical elections, but to be fair, that’s almost always been the status quo. When’s the last time you remember all five candidates running with separate platforms mechanically? Due to the nature of how CP elections have always been run, it naturally funnels into a three way split, and if you’re really lucky, four. Candidates drop from their campaigns when they know that they cannot win, if other candidates have a majority of political parties. We’ve seen this happen over and over, but it apparently becomes a problem when it’s only one candidate for a good reason? Everyone is allowed to run in a unity election, and in addition to that, every major political party is allowed to have a say in their election. To be fair, there is an argument to be made for small party integration. However, smaller parties are still allowed into the process as a tie breaker between the top 4, as they honestly had been in the past, only in a mechanical sense. So the only difference between a Unity election and a mechanical one is the usage of ingame voting, which is not very different or non-representative of the people’s will. This is reinforced by the idea that We The People is now using article voting, circumventing the need for forum usage in order to vote in party primaries. In so far as this is the case, we’re really not losing much by utilizing the Unity process.

But what do we lose if we ditch unity and allow mechanics to take over? There’s still one thing that the AFA wants. One thing that they’ve been striving to get, been fighting to get to close things out. You see, when PTO movements start, they need victories. They need ways to convince a foreign populace to stay in the country. Without 100/100, the only way to do that is through political victories, and political legitimacy.

Allowing the AFA to win the CP position is a one way ticket to obtaining legitimacy. When that happens, here’s what the consequences are:
1) Every new citizen in the United States will receive a message from the AFA CP.
2) Our allies will see the AFA CP as the mechanical CP ingame.
3) We will no longer be able to propose MPP’s with other nations at our own behest.
4) We lose control of all national organizations, including the White House Press Room Org
5) We no longer control the CoTD order

A lot of these things are minor mechanically, but have lasting impacts to legitimacy. Especially to new citizens. When we choose Unity Elections, we say that we’d rather have someone who, at the very least, has American interests at heart be election. Sure, lots of people won’t be supporting the candidate. Unity Candidates don’t need to appeal to as general a populace as a Mechanical candidate would. Yet the consequences of giving up this system highly outweigh any marginal benefits of having a mechanical election, which we would subsequently lose to the AFA candidate.

The IES procedure is the only legitimate way of gaining recognized citizenship in the eUS. Those who gain citizenship through any other means result in being blacklisted by the national government. Bribes, spamming congressmen, and accepting offers from AFA are included in the ways to be blacklisted by the national government. What does being blacklisted mean? You will be considered a threat by our established political parties, government or affiliated MUs, and our national government, preventing you from being supplied or supported by any programs or organizations.

The eUS is not anti-immigration. We recognize the importance of bringing new and active people into the country. Our national administration employs many foreign born individuals who didn't always reside in the eUnited States. Our policies are not directed against any particular ethnic group or political opinion, we simply wish to keep track of who enters the country in an organized and efficient manner.
