Who would you attack?

Greetings Bros,


Its no secret that our country has been feeling the effects of stagnation recently, in fact its actually one of the most common topics nowadays. This got me thinking about the most common way to end stagnation in erepublik, a real war, and so I've decided to write an argument for military conflict with the United Kingdom. However this is just one suggestion of many, so let me know your thoughts in the comments below.


Freeing Ireland may seem like an odd choice considering we haven't really had much interaction with them recently, however I believe their are several compelling reasons to support an invasion of the UK, with the purpose of freeing Ireland. These include the large percentage of citizens in the United States that can claim Irish heritage, the potential to help rally more countries to our side, and the prospect to help alleviate some of the stagnation our country is experiencing, while also potentially providing us with increased production, most likely in the form of iron or fish.




According to the United States Census Bureau there are roughly 36.9 million people living in the United States that can claim to be of Irish heritage, and Irish is the second most reported ancestry in the United States, behind only German. So why do these RL statistics have anything to do with erepublik? Simply put, nationalism. We may not be as nationalistic as some of the Balkan nations, however I believe people are more likely to be engaged in a war if it directly involves a helping a group for which we have a national holiday.

This RL link to the Irish would also make developing a narrative to support the war easier, and be more easily sustainable than if we were to go to war with a nation with which we have little interaction with in RL. On top of this you have the fact that ever since WWIII we have in general enjoyed the concept of killing redcoats. Honestly, it just doesn't get old.



With the dissolution of EDEN both CoT and TWO should be courting the newly independent countries to secure their damage for their side, and at this point, TWO is doing a much better job of this than CoT. CoT lost Lithuania to TWO, while Romania and Taiwan (RoC) have both committed themselves to TWO, and while Greece may have decided against joining TWO for now, their priorities (and those of Turkey) are distinctly anti CoT. This means that CoT needs to do something to sway the remaining nuetral nations to their side, primarily Croatia, China, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Albania. Otherwise we may find ourselves in a bi-polar world with the scales in TWO's favor

In my opinion the best argument we can make to compel these nations to join us is to show that we know how to have fun, and that we are willing to lay down damage to help those that have lost territories to TWO. With a campaign to free Ireland from the UK, I believe we can do both. By embarking on a military campaign rife with narrative, and successfully freeing Ireland (A country which has had a sizable Croatian immigrant population in the past) we can show ourselves to be a country that knows how to have a good time, and at the end of the day, isn't that what this is all about?



A word we know all too well around here

There can be no doubt that our country is experiencing a period of stagnation, this can be attributed largely to the effects forced on us by the PTO being perpetrated by RGR and his Serbian thugs. Considering the fact that the evidence for this is overwhelming (we had 10/10 bonuses and a large empire before the AFA) it is not something I will be going into further.

However I would like to talk about how a military conflict could help to end or at least alleviate some of this stagnation. This war, a real war, filled with narrative, has the potential to both unify the country, and increase our activity and population. While it wouldn't be huge, the more people we have that are actively logging in to fight the more people we will hopefully have voting for ATO operations, thus helping us defeat the PTO that much more quickly. This war would also help hurt the PTO in that it would make being a US citizen more inconvenient for those that are here to PTO us, as they have to move more often to fight for their side. At the end of the day we have to do something to end the stagnation, and while it doesn't have to be this, helping an old friend seems like an ok place to start.
