Who Are the Imperialists Now?

Being relatively new to eRepublik I have taken much of what I know about the history of the game from publications written by other players. Unfortunately, it places me in the position where I am forming opinions based on subjective views. Most of the articles I read were written by other eAmericans and presented from that perspective. Some were published by members of PEACE.

People tend to believe what they want to believe. The capacity for humans to rationalize their actions is almost limitless. You will always hear from both sides of a war that they are the “good” guys if you read their propaganda.

The only way to avoid the deceit and lies is to find evidence that tells you the true heart and motivation of the people in power. Actions are what speak with truth and clarity. You shall know the heart of a person by their actions. The idea of this statement has been expressed in several religions, but it transcends religion. There are some things that are just true. This same sentiment has been expressed in many different ways outside of religious boundaries. Such as when we ask in America if you will walk what you talk.

With that in mind we should look at the recent battles started by the PEACE alliance. How are they justified in any way by a group that accuses others of Imperialistic designs? Alaska and Croatia are not native lands to any member state of PEACE. They cannot possibly argue that they “belong” to them.

When the eUSA completed the reunification of their country with the victory in Alaska, they also willingly gave up the initiative to continue the battle into PEACE territories. Certainly the EDEN/Brolliance forces had demonstrated the ability to win battles. If the eUSA had designs of Imperialism they were not pursued by stopping attacks at that point.

Under early leadership the eUSA had a history of being the aggressor. Over time the leadership of the eUSA learned that diplomacy and friendships are important. Since that time they have sought to become a better member of the international eRepublik community. Stopping the military advance after taking Alaska was a message that the eUSA has learned.

It is also clear that PEACE has become drunk with their power to control others. During the time that they have fought World War III, the PEACE leaders have grown accustomed to calling the shots. They do not want to give that up. So now they demonstrate the lie of their aggressions. They could have taken this opportunity to allow the world of eRepublik to heal and sought diplomatic solutions. Yet they choose to be the aggressor and attack the territory of other nations.

The PEACE alliance may have begun as a response to the aggressions of the eUSA. But it has now become what it purports to fight against. They have become the Imperialists. They have been corrupted by the power they hold and no longer represent the best hope for the freedom and future health of the eRepublik world. We know that because we know their hearts by their deeds in Croatia and Alaska.

P.S. As events have developed PEACE has made incursions into Finland and Sweden. But PEACE has lost the main battles in Croatia and the EDEN/Brolliance forces will likely move forward to recover the lands that have been strategically sacrificed by their Nordic allies. The USA also sacrificed Alaska in the effort to defend their ally in Croatia. But Brolliance partner nation Canada, has stepped forward to reclaim Alaska and hold it in stewardship. Turkey invaded Greece as well, but the Greeks successfully held their ground. We shall all watch as this continuing story of world struggle unfolds.
