Who actually thinks Christmas elections are a good idea?
Devoid
As you all know, we have Presidential elections on the 5th of every month, Party Prez elections on the 15th, and Congressional elections on the 25th. This isn't a bad system 11 months out of the year.
But elections on December 25th? Seriously? For much of the Western world, especially Christians and Americans, this is the one day out of the year where people are least likely to be sitting at their computers ready to vote. No doubt turnout will be terrible, and a few good candidates will be sniped. For shame!
Suggestions: Ideally the election schedules would be changed going forward. I'd suggest the 10th, 20th, and 30th, but a certain month lacks a 30th (screw you, February). So how about, say, the 8th, 18th, and 28th? I like it. Not that I expect this to happen.
Backup plan: In December, change Congressional elections to either the 23rd or 27th. Not the 24th, that's Christmas Eve. Not the 26th, that's Boxing Day, which apparently our Canadian Bros care about. So yeah, let's do it.

I'll get you a congress seat for Christmas.
Agreed. Elections on Dec. 25th are a terrible idea.
As much as it will create headaches, I don't think it makes sense for the admins to change a regular date just for a holiday : /
Can I have one?
Christmas Eve would be fun, cause then on Christmas Day you get the present of being a congressman. Or you get coal.
For two clickers it's not so bad, but for those of us who are party presidents and spend the whole day tactically organising votes, It's bad timing for an election.

Don't snipe me on Christmas. That wouldn't be cool, bro.
Bill O'Reilly approves this article.
@ Zartemax maybe if you win but what about the poor guy you kicked out of Congress? He wakes up the day after Xmas to see that he was robbed. Then you would feel real bad about it later.
No, Xmas Elections are BAD!

Agreed.
this is a world game... have any of you considered that in your comments ? What of other peoples holy days/ holidays...
blinders on...
Obviously it's a world game, but consider what a massive proportion of the game population celebrates Christmas. This comes once a year, and is a problem that could be avoided easily enough.
December 25th is also the date of Sol Invictus. I'm sure that many of our Roman players will not be logging in that day because they are out worshiping the Unconquerable Sun.
As much as I agree that the Congressional elections should be moved, the problem does exist that this is, as it has been otherwise stated, a world game and most of the world have holidays that work out based on the lunar cycle. Thus, any day could potentially be a bad day for elections. It's bound to happen eventually.
