When war goes too far... and it becomes personal.

I write this message to you today not as the President but as a citizen of our country. Today I was handing out supplies on IRC, when a member of iNCi informed me of this message he received from someone in eBE and the words he received disturbed me GREATLY. The quote is as follows:
Why do you remove one of you'r comrads? Im helping my Belgian comrads with the war against the dutch... you must know some facts abouth this war. This is why.. The Netherlands decided that it was time to have fun by attacking and invading Belgium for their own sick pleasures! Only 1 week after eBelgium, as a symbol of friendship donated them 400gold. The Netherlands treasury got robbed in an inside job, they lost a big amount of gold, they answered our donation with this sick war. President Auggy is a phucking NAZI swein... RU going to deffend that PIG?
The last line in that message disturbs me greatly, since it is offensive and at the same time sad since this individual does not understand the difference between a game and real life.
For those of you reading this you must understand the following facts and the situation preceding these events of today.
A few weeks before a robbery in our country that cost us all our currency, gold and tanks we had in storage, we were planning an invasion of eBE because we wanted a fun war between our countries in order to get our citizens active and at the same time provide for a baby boom. When the robbery occurred a number of our members were online as well as I believe someone from the eBE ministry of finance, since at around the same time eBE received 300-400 gold on their state accounts. It was assumed by BOTH parties that this gold was a portion of the gold stolen from the dutch treasury. So they kindly donated the money back. After all when your neighbor’s house is on fire you do not charge them for the use of your water. I have said the same that if the situation were to be reversed we would do the same without hesitation. The reason the invasion was called off on eBE at that time was not because of the robbery but due to an invasion threat by eHungary.
A few weeks later I was elected the president of the eNetherlands and one of my promises was the invasion of eBE. When the war was proposed, we told various concerned citizens of eBE that we would ensure that eBE would receive no congress, and that our intentions were to have a war for the lulz. After all eRepublik is a game where war is the central role. We invade our neighbours from time to time either for conquest of resources, establishing regional dominance or just plain for the fun of it. eBE tried to ask us to make it into a training war, something our country had no interest in. War is war after all!
After a wiping eBelgium from the map and they gained a number of MPPs the war became interesting and as part of our strategy we lost some regions in order to gain our eUSA and eChina MPPs back. The war shifted again and we went on to conquer eBelgium once more.
It was around this time that a small incident occurred between the eNL and iNCi. We made an apology towards them and that was to settle our matter. It had nothing to do with eBelgium. However figures in eBelgium saw this as an opportunity to sabotage our name and relations with other nations that would have prolonged effects in the future. As a result it was decided by the eNetherlands government that we would grant eBelgium a maximum of 1 region for the elections in order to punish eBelgium for interfering with our foreign policy. eBelgium managed during this time to regain an upper hand and conquer our region of southern Netherlands. Respect for that.
During this entire conflict we have not cried about losing regions. The eNetherlands was out for a war and sometimes losing a region in the process is a part of the game. This is because we know that in a few days we will regain this region back and all will be well. It is a game. We lost a few congress seats, some people were disappointed, it happens. These are the risks we must accept. However in the end it remains a game.
During this entire conflict eBelgium has sought to have peace. We were not interested in that. So during this period eBelgium maneuvered to secure alliances (in some cases with our current allies) and claimed towards other nations that we are bullies, out keep eBelgium for the map forever, etc etc. We claimed that eBe was a proOne country and not neutral. Its just the way each side sees things. We had also received ridiculous terms for peace during this time from the eBelgian CP, and we sent similar terms back. The war was called by many as the “War of the Beers”. It was all done in good fun and in he spirit of the game. We made our intentions clear from the beginning its meant to be fun. If eBE can’t see the fun in it then that was their problem.
Over the weekend we did decide that the period of fun was over, it was time for peace. After speaking with the eBE MoFA The only demands that we had were the following, eBE apologizes for interfering with our problem with iNCi, and that we both agree that eBe beer is as good as eDutch beer. The war would thus in a truce, and we would continue being neighbors once again. After all when all things are said and done it’s a game. We respect our neighbors in the end even if they are Belgians. After all any of their members are respected in our community and have been and continue to be so in the future.
WE just like THEM are players in a GAME.
HOWEVER after today's comments as quoted above, I fear that some people take this game too personal. It is VERY sad, and I will not let this ONE individual be the black sheep of his country that forces eBelgium into unending occupation.

This person knows who they are. They can apologize to me via a private PM if they are man enough or if they deem themselves worthy enough to continue to play this game. If they do not please for the sake of everyone stop playing this game. You are a sickness in this community that nobody will tolerate NO MATTER WHAT SIDE YOU ARE ON!
I have kept this person’s name anonymous for their sake and for the sake of those who share such extreme and pathetic views. It is a game and NOBODY, not even your enemies deserve to be spoken as such.

In the end I am a player, elected by my fellow citizens to lead them. The position of country president is a position that simply states that I am first amongst equals. I do not agree with the quote, which ends in a rather stupid way.
But... the problem with you is that you seem to be so sure about the limits between what's "fun and In Game" and what's "not fun and going too far" (I'm talking in general, not just about this paper).
We all have a different interpretations of where that line should be drawn. But you seem to claim your line is just the only correct line possible in this world, and that anybody having a different opinion is wrong.
You started a war many people do not enjoy at all. Now, you come complaining because of a few words that turn out in a way you dislike.
These words are actually stupid, but, unfortunatly, we often read that kind of stupid comments, especially in periods of war. I do not like personnal attacks either, but I don't understand the reason to make such a big deal of this one. From what I've seen so far, you're somebody that seems to be used to troll and personal attacks. I don't understand. I guess pointing at these in such a paper may be good to obtain the support of the "public opinion".
I believe that calling someone a "phucking NAZI swein" is something to make a big deal of. There will always be moking of other players, but there are certain lines that should not be crossed.
As for other definition of fun, that is true, our definition differs from that of eBelgium. I proposed the war, and congress approved the war.
It is indeed too bad that people cross the line, although as Jeiry says, sometimes the line is not that clear to both sides. However, I believe that particular insult crosses the line in terms of game rules. I do give you respect for acknowledging that this is the action of an individual.
I also give you respect for the clarification of your point of view on the war in general. If I am still not happy with some aspects of the way the war has been conducted, at least I understand it better now. With regard to the peace terms, I hope you can acknowledge that the iNCi incident also involved individuals, one who was an official government representative from eNL, but as far as I know, the ones from eBE were not in the government and were not acting on government orders. If an apology is in order, perhaps it is from these individuals rather than from eBE as a whole.
With regard to the beer, however, I for one am more than ready to call a truce, allowing eDutch to keep Dutch beers and eBelgians to keep the Belgian beers. No doubt that should make all of us happy. 🙂
In the end I don't feel like an act of sabotage on your international relationships by taking advantages of your mistakes is any different then taking a region by force, it's all part of standard game mechanics, if it's fun when you're on the losing side is an entirely different matter.
With that said, I do not condone the insulting, one agile enough with words can achieve far greater things while being polite. As it stands, each has had their limit of fun reached it seems Auggustus. In the end, those are the true risks in consequences of a "real" war. Even if it's just a game, there will unfortunatly always be people who take things one step too far.
I personally don't support these insults and I believe even in this game one should pay attention to what he says. However trolling is always been part of this game and what is insulting for one player is just part of the game comments or stance a player take in-game for someone else.

Not going to argue about the various factual inaccuracies in the article, but I will comment that any inappropriate remarks made by a player to another player about you on IRC are not condoned or supported by myself or the government of eBelgium.
If the remarks were made by a member of my government, please let me know via PM and I will expeditiously remove them from my cabinet.
I also suggest you contact the eRepublik administrators and see if you can't get your admirer a forfeit point.
It's difficult to form an opinion when you don't know all sides of the story. And perhaps that's the main problem; Lack of information. What are the intentions, what are the plans and what can we expect at certain moment? During this period I haven't seen any updates or heard any diplomatic statements. The only thing I heard was the opening statement in which the war was announced as a fun war and the fact that regions would be given back before the elections. Change of plan or so is never mentioned. Would have been nice for my understanding of what was happening.
That said; It seems obvious that a line is crossed against you Auggustus. But I think many people in eBelgium, and perhaps eNL as well, think you have done so also. It's al a matter of perspective and peoples own truth based on how they interpret the facts the know. Even in a game.

So as part of your explanation you say your country started a war against eBelgium that wasn't really welcomed from the other side because personally you and the Dutch parliament considered it fun - thus it's okay? And now you're wondering how some people might feel a little bit pissed at having their regions invaded multiple times and on top of that a new congress? Your whole point is entirely fallacious.
Although I strongly condemn that kind of behaviour by that unnamed individual (I think that Fhaemita guessed correctly, and the presence of his buddies/multies above supports that assumption), but I don't think a long article was needed to turn this into a public, political issue, when it's clearly a personal problem of one inadequate individual, which should be settled on a personal level, possibly with the intervention of the admins.
