What should we be looking at in our President?

Day 744, 22:11 Published in Japan Japan by Metic
I posted this before in the DPJ Party Forums, but what should we be looking for in our Country President, and in particular, eJapan's President? There are several things, such as activity and communication that must be present in a candidate. But what else?
(Please note that points 5 and 6 were specific to the DPJ and what we deemed to be necessary for those areas.)

1. Commitments as the Country President:
- To be Active and to be attentive to citizen needs.
- To be proactively promoting and bettering the country.
- To uphold eJapanese values and culture.
- To be non-partisan while in power and to be respectful of all citizens
- To regularly update the public in government work and foreign news and its impact on eJapan

2. IRC-frequenter
Almost an unsaid convention, but getting in touch with foreign leaders is of great need for Japan and any leader in the eWorld. If he / she isn't in IRC, I cannot imagine how PMs alone can fit the bill. If they cannot work their way around IRC, they are missing something very important.

3. An active and rational candidate

Active is a no-brainer. Rational, of course, is the key in this first point. Any half-assed person can go around shouting, posting articles, and spamming IRC / forums. What's needed in a President is something completely different. In other words, we want a smart candidate and one who knows the rules of the game, one who knows how to play the game.

4. The National Cabinet
Being able to put together a team of competent people to run the country is undoubtedly important. We should look for a candidate who is neither clueless not rigid upon his / her choices, a person who is also flexible and willing to evaluate and re-evaluate the effectiveness and the work of his / her cabinet ministers and, if necessary, be willing to get rid of incompetent officials.

5. Military Policy
The president should support the continuation of the current training program with the exception that there should be a renewed priority on Mobile Soldiers.

6. Foreign Policy

The party looks for a candidate who will commit to an anti-imperalistic policy and one who will be able to ensure Japan's safety by reaching out to neigbouring countries and through the use of MPPs, if neccesary. Acquiring resources need not be through foreign ownership but through acquisition in our native lands.

Japan! I hope you consider these points when choosing your next president!

And as a final note, from these points and with the approval of the membership, the DPJ does endorse Dokomo for this month's Country Presidential Election.
