What it's like to be a retired General.

Hello from the other side!
I have been retired from leading the CAF for several years. I still fight where I'm told to and donate all my resources to producing weapons for the CAF but that's about it for my e-life here.
The reason that started this article was to get comments for that mission that everyone else has/had, but I'm also really curious about what keeps the new players playing Erepublik and what my old Erepublik friends are up to. I'm not as involved socially on this game anymore but in RL a lot of my Erepublik friends are doing some amazing things! Becoming parents, getting married, new jobs etc. So I wonder what is keeping everyone else here? Is it a sense of duty like me or is there another reason to keep playing a completely social game but not be social at all?
You tell me.
PS about e-retirement for me... Things are going great for me in RL. Just got married in December to the love of my life. My graphic design business is doing great and we are working on a national scale for some amazing clients. I'm also heavily involved in several volunteer organizations which are doing great so I'm happy to see progress there.
Anyways I would love to hear from you guys!

To be frank, I don't even know, but I've invested some time in this game already, so I might as well keep on keeping on.
Yeah I feel like that's what it's like for a lot of people. You get invested at the start and it's so easy to just do the bare minimum to make an epic tank character so might as well not quit.
The community was so vibrant before though. Is it quite the same as what it was like before?
What community? I've only had a handful of conversations since joining this game, can't speak in terms relative of what was before since I don't have that experience. Then again, as you said at times its easy just doing the bare minimum in this game.
@another nobody of anarchy: that's what I kind of figured. In the past there was a vibrant forum and IM community where people really got involved with the politics of the game as well as strategy for world dominance. Since Erepublik built its own IM into the game have you found it useful? I always find it so dead and rarely do I see conversations happening
As far as I know, the forums are dead, even for congress. and I haven't even bothered with the IM and it seems no one else has. As much as I'd love to experience the community I've heard so much about, it sounds like its kinda dead.
It's too bad. I wonder what Erepublik can do to improve that. When it first came out the community was pretty exclusive so it meant people would be more involved and eventually it grew over time. Maybe part of the problem is that Erepublik is now involved with so many other games that are not as socially intensive so they don't promote it that much here anymore...
Glad to hear things are going well. Did you end up doing any work for the CFS? I finished school so I stepped down from the union a while ago, but they were still doing a lot of campaigns with some cool graphic designs sent to us by CFS.
I actually do tons of work for them still. They are one of my favourite clients because the work is always so meaningful. We have done a lot of work on the national level but recently we have also been focusing on the provincial campaigns so it's been amazing to work with so many different projects. Chances are you've seen some of my work 🙂.
How's life after school?
With the amount of propaganda CFS sent us, I am certain I have seen some of your work haha.
I'm just being underemployed until I can go to law school next year. I had no idea it was so hard to find full-time work!
That sucks about the lack of employment. Depending on the city it can be really tough for anyone to find work. Especially if you're a student.
