What is a "Real Belgian"?
Thore Thoreson
In the last few days, we have heard the slogan "A real Belgian for Belgium". I would like to ask, what is a real Belgian?
Now, if this were RL, I would wholeheartedly agree that a person running for office should have a personal connection with the area they want to represent. But this is a game. A game is supposed to be fun, exciting and a joy to play. Look at the top 10 articles in the Belgian media everyday. While most are good articles, describing game mechanics or how to make money or how to keep your wellness up, the most thought provoking, insightful and entertaining articles are those from what BfB calls "foreigners". These are people that left the country of their e-birth and moved here for one reason or another, but have stayed to help make Belgium a better place. How are they not a real Belgian? With the history of our fair nation, and all the mergers and etc that have happened since this game started, there are very few people that actually were e-born in Belgium. Even our outgoing CP spent most of his life in the UK. Up until a few months ago, the PP of BfB was the President of the NL. He even stated in his farewell address to the NL that his intention was to bring Belgium back into the UNL. Does this sound like a real Belgian? At the same time (5 months ago) Rod Damon was publishing an article describing his desire to see Belgium remain a free and independent country.
Again, I ask. What is a real Belgian?
Is it a member of the party that has stated that they desire the merger of Belgium with the NL?
Or is it a member of the party that has stated the want of, and continues to fight for, a free and independent Belgium?
Maybe we should look beyond the RL nationality of any person in Belgium and fight together for a country we can all be proud of.
This country will not be a good place for any of us to live in unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in. ~Theodore Roosevelt
Vote Rod Damon for CP/PM and bring in a person that has fought FOR Belgium since day One!

Lets see how many people from the UK comment on this article...
I BfB don't care about your RL nationality they only ask to be loyal to eBelgium and not take order from some foreign power we all know Rod Damon is working for the eUSA interest.
But I am opposed to a merging whit eNL.
If they don't care, then why am I still referred to as an "American"?
😛
Because you still work for the interest of eUSA that why.
@Xgentis : I agree with your definition of Belgium
@Thore : I consider Medolke as a Belgian. He has showed a big commitment and worked for the best of Belgium. The only person I don't consider as a Belgian is Rod Damon and for the same reasons as Xgentis.
I still refer to myself as American.
It was where I grew up in the eWorld, and I will allways concider myself American, but I've put a lot of work into Belgium, and I'm loyal to my new country.
@Xgentis
I stopped working for the interests of eUS when I emigrated to Belgium. If you can show me otherwise, please do.
@Thore
You are supporting Rod Damon isn't that enough proof?
@Xgentis that has nothing to do with being a real Belgian or not. He is supporting who he thinks will be the best for Belgium. Thore has been an active member of congress and the forum and has shown us that he is working for Belgium's interests.
Since when it is in belgium interests to have a CP still loyal to eUSA? And who will not hesitate to switch side if we were to enter a conflict for the Entente against the interest of eUSA.
And wouldn't that make me working for the interests of the US aswell? Concidering I was the one who entered him as a candidate and all.
All we ask is be loyal only to eBelgium if you can't do that don't ask us to consider you belgian. It's the same for all those hungarian or whatever they came from.
lol. I don't really care if I'm concidered Belgian or not. I'll still do what I do whether I am or not.
So I guess we will now have a "loyalty test" to determine who is an acceptable candidate for office?
Who determines the "correct" answers?
And why can't he just quit is work for the eUSA? Is it to mutch to ask? I don't care at all where you came from if you work to improve ebelgium and cut your ties whit any foreign powers or international organisation.
I don't see anything wrong with working in an international organization or a foreign one. As long as the candidate works for his country more than another, he is fine. This is a game, and it is meant to be fun.
In my opinion a president cannot have obligations to other countries outside those determined by his office. And with Rod I don't think that is the case, correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm no fan of the "get out of here eUSA scum!!" and i respect Rod alot for what he did for eBelgium and for what he did in his elife till now but he is not the right man for the job.
voted for the rest of the article thou
@Zarsky
Imagine he become our CP and the time come when he must choose between eUSA or eBelgium interest what do you think he should do?
I prefer the term American-Belgian, it's much more politically correct.
lulz
I said that the president must choose his own country over the other ones he has ties with. I'm not supporting Rod for this election, but we shouldn't overrule him as not being a real Belgian.
Oh God! It's still continuing...
lol gibberish
This article is full of truth.
wisdom brother
Voted up.
remember kids: Bfb is the racist party who's only argumant against Rod is the fact that he isn't really a Belgium Bloke
FB is the party you're voting for.
>I prefer the term American-Belgian, it's much more politically correct
loll'd
also +10000k on this article
It's time we stop this RL belgian crap. I'm a RL belgian too, I have no ties with eUSA anymore and I support Rod 200%. Why? Not because he's RL american, not because he's in my party, no... I support him because I think he's the better man. and I mean that in all honesty
While I admit, you shouldn't really have ties to other countries as CP, I was still openly a member of the US Mobile Infantry for months while working in Belgium, and even a week or so into my term as MoD. I am living proof that you can do a lot for a country while still being under the orders of another.
That still don't make it a right thing.
But you can't lead a country while still under the orders of an other, Medrolke, especially if there is an other suitable candidate. It's a matter of principles that you have your loyalties sorted out, which won't cause conflict of interests in an unforeseen situation.
As to the RL Belgian discussion, we already had it so many times, and it is really sad that people still keep making that distinction. Real Belgians work for this country, that should be enough proof.

You're not a real Belgian if you put the interests of another country (say, eUS) first. It's very simple.
There wouldn't be as much fuss about someone working for another country government if it wasn't in the depatment of mobile voting. It would still be a conflict of interest though.

Says the eUK-er that IS a mobile voter...
les vrais belges aiment les frites, la bière, et le chocolat. On les reconnait à cela 🙂
Well, you can be real Belgian and put others interest first.
It's what is called : betrayor!
Ik houd van het bier en de frieten. Chocola interesseert me niet.
Gelukkig won Apotygma overtuigend. 🙂
Belgium does not need to be absorbed by UNL. There is no need for a UNL and it does not make sense for these game mechanics. What does make sense is a special working relationship between Belgium and NL. Perhaps NL should join Belgium in the Entente.
@Niemand
Guessing from your comments and your location, you would prefer a Belgian government that is loyal to PHX and/or NL first? How about we make our own way in the world instead?
Manong is a real Belgian! 🙂
Yeah, Manong's epic 😃
