What does the Libertarian Party stand for?

Day 793, 03:55 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Libertarian Party Organisation

Times are again hard for our union at the moment, we are surrounded by enemies. But the Libertarian Party has been going from strength to strength, having broken into the top five parties and overtaken the GLD to become the fourth biggest party, not to mention a considerable increase in members. As a party committed to its principles, we would like to publish this statement showing exactly what we still stand for.

These are our fundamental principles, but as with everything else in the party, you can work to change them. The Libertarian Party is a society, and its president is just the first amongst equals.

1. A commitment to democracy. The Libertarian Party is only the sum of its members, and we make all the important decisions together, on the forum. Any member can be a part of this process – ask our active members.

2. Liberty at home. All peoples have the right to self-determination, and the Libertarian Party is committed to defending that right. Tyrannies such as that of Poland and Spain are totally illegitimate.

3. Liberty abroad. This party will offer support to foreign groups fighting to free themselves from occupation, and we have done this in France, Germany and Flanders, as well as making several other offers.

4. The defence of the United Netherlands should always be paramount. We support any reform that will better defend the Union, and we believe the rightful place of Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia is in the Union. We have made weapons donations to the Ministerie van Defensie to assist in defence efforts.

5. The Libertarian Party has a continuing commitment to cutting back on state companies and state involvement in the economy. The party currently supports state-provided training stopping at skill level three – over this level workers can work in the private sector. The Libertarian Party believes that it is not the state’s job to compete with the private sector.

These are some of our basic principles, with examples of how they are being put into practice. The Libertarian Party is a party that will never be afraid to be controversial, and will always defend the freedom of the common people, no matter how big their opponent. We need members and we need you – remember that the Libertarian Party is the party for the people and by the people!
