What does it means to be a Hero and an Enemy?

Day 355, 03:46 Published in Indonesia Indonesia by isnuwardana

It has been a while since a war involved Indonesia, perhaps since South Africa, but for me it seems things change now.

It has been a while since the Indonesian Australian war. I do remember a time when Zaney put a good fight in Queensland, fighting alone against many Indonesian soldier. Indonesians then nicknamed him as "Pitung", the legendary hero from Jakarta who are famous because of his invincibility. This eventually evolved to a concept of heroism in Erepublik, the first time ever even though that war was not the first war in Erepublik. (Have you ever consider Nave to be heroic in the USA-Canadian war?)

Move to the next one, Indonesian-South African war, where Indonesians were trying to balance things up by fighting USA, Venezuela and Argentina, still we could find some praise for the enemies, especially for South Africans who were fighting to defend their own country.

This concept eventually surfaces in the V1, as a title "Hero",one of the most sought after achievement in a profile, although this is very different from the previous one, only based on the strongest fighter, but not the one who could gain respect from the enemy. Does anyone ever show respect for people with battle hero achievement such as blink-az who gained 5 battle hero achievements? Or any resistance hero?

Does anyone still do that?

Why when we're looking at the forum and newspaper comments, there are many trolling between sides? Hardly we can see any praise toward others, seems a lot of hate were put down there.

Ok then, Australians and others, it has been a great battle.
It has been quite some experience for us since we rarely had war, yet you're able to tear a big part of the wall, which showed your capability. Congratulations for being able to organise this.

Tomorrow is Indonesia's Hari Pahlawan: Heroes' Day, to commemorate the Battle of Surabaya, where Indonesians fought against Dutch-British-Indian army to defend their independence after World War 2 in 1945.
Also, by the end of this month, it has been 154 years since the Eureka rebellion took place in Australia, where gold miners fight for their rights in Ballarat, which started democracy in Australia.
Hope you can bring the the Hari Pahlawan and Eureka spirit to gain and defend your rights.
