Fellow eAmericans,

My name is Jasper Signa and I am running for Congress as a member of the Federalist Party. However, whether you are a Federalist, a new citizen or a member of another political party I hope you will take a moment to look at my ideas for our country and how to make it stronger and better. The question above is a real one. . . are you tired of Bikini Clad women soliciting you to vote for people who have never had an original thought of their own? Perhaps you want real leadership in congress, willing to work on innovative ideas? Maybe you need some time to decide so keep reading to find out.

eRepublik is presented by admins as a, A New World, and in many instances it is. I remember as a new citizen being shocked by the sight of South Dakota, Poland or the horror of realizing that Serbia was the most populous country in the world.

While the new world may be an odd one, there is still politics, war and economy modules for players to participate in.

That is if they don’t get too frustrated and quit, having been left hungry on the side of the road after being flattened by a Russian tank.

As a country, we squander our most precious national asset every day, our national population. Since V2 started the eUSA population has lost nearly 7,000 people. This is 7,000 fewer people to fight and defend our national borders and work in our rifle and tank companies.

This huge population shift has happened because our recruitment and retention of new players has not kept up with the exodus of older players. This is partly because the changes made by the admins have had unattended consequences and partly because tried and true formulas for success have gone to the way side.

As your Congressman, I will not accept the admins failures and problems with game mechanics to stop eAmerica from reaching its full potential.

While many congressmen will bore you with multi step plans and long platforms, (hey stop looking at your watch). My platform consists of just two simple principles.

1. Improve our support of new players

2. Improve our economy

I understand that everyone says that but here’s the difference I actually have a plan to accomplish it.

I am a relatively new player, myself having joined a week or two before the transition to V2. I remember that first day having my 5 dollars in my pocket, being excited about the game and how I was going to be a politician and a business owner and a military hero and was just eager to turn and burn. Then I went through the tutorial and was confused as all heck. . .

“Was this game only about pushing a few buttons?” I asked myself.

Then I was given that first Personal Message from President Chocolate McSkittles, telling me how to find the forums and other helpful information, it helped pull me back from the abyss as I eventually learned what to eat and about housing and how to fight and heal. I eventually made the best decisions of my e-life joining the United States Training Corps and the Federalist Party.

We live in an ADD society and most people do not have the patience to settle down and figure out the complexities of a new system. They need help, and fortunately we have a great collection of experienced citizens to teach them.

As a country we do not have a lot of time once those new citizens check on board to get them involved, face it there are better games out there for political junkies, military strategist, or inspiring business leaders. eRepublik is only fun because of the people we meet and interact with along the way. If a new citizen does not find a social outlet within the first few days the likelihood of him or her staying is slim to none.

New Player Retention
To help maintain new citizens, the eUSA needs:

1. A professional and detailed welcome message, telling players how to find help, how to get to our forums. The message should be simple, well formatted, not sarcastic and provide the link to the articles they should read in order to be successful in eRepublik.

2. Every new citizen should be encouraged to take stock of their interests, citizens interested in military should be distributed to the United States Training Command. Citizens interested in Politics should be provided to sanctioned Political Parties of the USA.

3. Every organization that receives U.S Funding Must have a Useful Purpose, there are hundred of outreach groups out there. As your congressman I will ensure that the eUSA funding for all charities are reviewed and those that are working are rewarded and those that aren't are trimmed back or eliminated altogether.

Face it, new citizens don’t need a helping hand they need a size 12 boot up their butt to get them to the people and organizations that make things fun. If the eUSA does not make the effort then bad actors like Pizza the Hut or others can exploit them for their own ends.

It’s the Economy Stupid
The economy is not some mythical creation from Randy Marshes creation. It is a simple mechanical means to exchange money to players for their labor who uses the money to buy goods from companies that make them.


We Have Angered the Economy

Unfortunately, the economy is dieing because of basic economic principles. There is more supply of goods then there is demand to buy them. This means that companies are not profitable because while they pay money for Raw Materials and Labor their is no one purchasing their products.

For Example, take the Grain Market, one of the more profitable enterprises because it supplies food which is used for the war module. I took an average of the first thirty companies and the average listing per company is about 7700. Multiply that number by 115 the number of companies offering grain and that is 885,000 pieces of grain on the market and that is only what is marketed at 0.03 and doesn’t include what is sitting unsold in inventory.

Now lets look at the companies making Quality 2, 6 Health Food. Health food should be in demand because of its use for the War Mod. Guess what though, in just this one market segment there is 6,122 pieces of food on the market.

So where does this supply come from? About 60% of the Food came from overseas companies with the remaining 40% coming from U.S Companies.

This wouldn’t be a problem normally with the exception that eUSA gets no benefit from these foreign companies and all tax revenues from their sales goes overseas. USA’s primary source of revenue is income tax meaning citizens pay 23% of their salary to the government. While I am not here to debate that system as it does have its merits.


These girls are sad when America's money goes to our Enemies.

There is ONE huge problem with that, people have to be able to work and companies have to be able to hire people in order for the government to get paid. How many citizens know of a business owner that had to close down shop or decided to move his business overseas because they couldn’t sell for a profit.

These foreign companies, paying foreign workers, get to sell product in their heavily protected high tariff market AND the American market while American Companies have to compete with them here. While American companies would love to sell their products overseas because of the high tariffs they are already at a distinct disadvantage when trying to compete with foreign companies in their home market.

“America has become the dumping ground of every large foreign country because of our trade policies. A policy which hurts American Companies and our revenue stream as a state.”


Cheap Foreign Competition has put these girls out of work.


Fair Trade, Not Free Trade
Here is what we need to look at to fix this system.

1. All Phoenix Members or other Enemy Countries should have an immediate trade embargo. We can not afford to send American profits back to our enemies over seas.

2. To help American companies a tariff of 10% on all goods should be levied to help raise capital from foreigners. No longer should they be allowed to sell for free here in the United States when American businesses have to face high tariffs in their markets.

3. The USA should work with our allies to lower tariffs in all countries, to create a fair opportunity for each other’s businesses.

Conclusion:

For those who have read this far thank you. V2 has brought a profound change to the game and as a country we have still not taken advantage of our collective strength to really thrive. Every new citizen is crucial to our efforts to protect our new found state in Far Eastern Alaska, whether as a newly trained tile changer in the Training Corps as a new employee of our Tank and Rifle Companies. Lets treat every new player as a precious resource as these new citizens will be our future leaders, in a month or two.

To rebuild our economy, we must promote fairness in the trade markets, allow American Companies and American workers the opportunity to provide jobs at good wages, and we must stop supporting our enemies companies.
