We Cannot Rely on Another to Make Our Destiny. That's Our Job.
Edana Savage
Well, I've been back in the Dail less than a week and frankly I'm disturbed. Where are the heated arguments and fierce debate? Somebody fight with me, dammit!
First impression is that there is no clear vision for the country. It used to be about Independence and a United Ireland. Now it's about joining EDEN and making nice with the UK.
Is that what you really want, Ireland? If it is, I will stand down and put away my shiney helicopter and play nice with the boys.
But if it's not.......
This is eRep. It's not supposed to be clean and orderly and all nambie pambie. No, sir. We are supposed to play out our deepest desires on here.
So what do you desire? What do you want that you cannot do in RL? Do you want war and mayham? Do you want unprecedented prosperity? Do you want our MoNC so full of noobs that they are busting at the seams? All of thee above?
What is our vision?
I can tell you this. We didn't fight our way out of neutrality and into independence just to hand that power over to another. It's all well and good to help our brothers out. (Love them guys to pieces, btw) HOWEVER, we have to have our own path, as well. Their vision cannot be our vision. It can compliment, but it cannot replace.
No one has Ireland's best interests at heart than the Irish. No one will work harder for Ireland than the Irish. No one will care as much if we are United Ireland than the Irish. Get the picture yet?
No more bitching about v2 sucking. It's here. So what do we want to do about it? Hmmm?
We can all agree that more fun is in order. We cannot rely on another to make our destiny. That is our job. So let's do it.

Uh oh. Edana figured out how to put pictures into her articles! She isn't sure why she is referring to herself in the third person. Maybe it's because she misses the Irish Princess.
Edana is suber ossum, I woves edana!
I will fight with you Ms Savage...
Edana! Yay!
Although I seriously doubt if any fool left in Ireland to fight with Mademoiselle Savage, I just want to remember that William Wallace is executed and Scotland is still part of UK.
For any kind of economic activity we need to have a constant flow of war. To give our soldiers experience and raise their skill levels as well as making the game more interesting and fun for everyone it is a essential that we have a constant flow of war.
Look at the situation right now, we have had seldom any battles. If our government bothered or capable of finding us a good MPP for battles which we can all fight in, then we have to take it out of their hands. It's a sad situation to be in, but that is the situation we're in.
@Connell Rath
Although I do not believe war is essential for economy in case you are involved, contant flow of war is only a matter of fun as also it no longer gives xp with v2.
Still, we may have training wars but a war in our lands is very costly.
It's clear that the one thing really want is war. The only country we could really get involved in warfare with is the eUK. However, though that was once very exhilarating, over time I believe people have grown bored of that. We either need to come up with a whole new exciting context to a war with them, or perhaps take a radical approach and somehow do war with someone else. Alternatively we'll have to get enjoyment elsewhere in the game, but that'd be difficult because war is the main attraction for most.
Anyway, enough of my ramble. Congrats for finally putting pictures in articles. 'bout damn time!
We need to implement the old article 2, before the politically correct sensitive individuals got their hands on it.
"The national territory consists of the whole island of Ireland, its islands and the territorial seas."
@Luminara, Wallace might have died but De Valera lived. And Robert the Bruce.
@Luminara, War really is essential for good selling. If people have been fighting battles they buy more food + weapons and that resonates throughout the companies and back into wages. Also when I said, "experience" I meant the physical experience of fighting(strategies, mechanics and such).
You need to fight battles to increase your rank and it also helps with weapon skill. The longer without war the weaker Ireland gets and we've had only one battle this whole term...
We need war, we've always needed war. This gov hasn't given it to us and if they're not capable or bothered trying to help Ireland's citizens grow militarily stronger. To prevent us having this problem in the future joining an alliance that can manage our foreign affairs for us is our only option.
But that's the point, Connell. We should not be relying on another to mangage our foreign affairs. I find the very thought distasteful. If we want war then we go find it. The old fashioned way through with hard work and perseverence. Why some of us think we can take short cuts I don't know. It's pissing me off.
@Connell Rath
As long as money circulates in country and only the owner changes, it doesn't really matter. This is why a war you are very involved is not profitable and merely waste of resources. Only a war based on your weapons run by others is profitable.
This is also why we may have TWs but a war in our lands is costly and pointless at least atm.
For last, Being a member of an alliance always limits your options no matter which one it is.
@Edana Savage
I am a Republican and I can not be bound by any power as I know no power greater than Republic itself. This is exactly why I must care for even one gold, one punt or one pint. I don't have such luxury to jeopardize them.
@Luminara It seems we agree on some points, but not others. lol Fair enough. I'm thoroughly enjoying the debate. I agree on your comment in regards to alliances. However, I'm not in total agreement with the war piece. We tried it the way you are talking, and we ended up stagnant. What are we jeapordizing exactly? It is just a bunch of pixels and data streams. There is no punt or pint. But the comraderie felt when focused on a common goal. Now there's the rub. That is what we should be focusing on. No goal, no common enemy makes we Irish very cranky.
i have one think to say to you !!!
bring it miss savage !
Everything about this discussion p***ed me off.
Gah.
Wow, I never thought I'd find an article interesting. Your a very good rambler.
