We Are Alive

Day 2,017, 01:05 Published in Australia New Zealand by Marcos Arolia

This is my first article in months. I apologise if my thoughts seem disjointed. It has been a difficult year in real life for my family.

This can also apply to my term as Prime Minister. Unlike RL politicians, my apologies are sincere in meaning. Now that the public apology is released, let us come to the true article.

Inspiration can be a fickle and brutal mistress. You can burn with the intense flames of creation one moment, but the same flames can be extinguished the next. This has been my personal state of affairs even since I returned to the game, if you can describe constant RL crisis and connection failure a "return."

It actually seemed as if I would have to quit the game due to the apathy. A game is not as important as family. However, two factors have influenced me to continue.

1)The end of the crisis

I don't speak often of my RL in this game or online. Whatever I do mention is based upon what I want others to know. To anyone who wishes to know more, I have said so to certain people. But all I will say within the game is that my family needed me.

It likely is the same player, but he prefers to play his new account otherwise. To those of you who are familiar with my game history, this will likely be a tedious repetition of things you know. At the same time, those who don't know will likely learn why I am the way I am in this game. TL😉R This man inspired in many ways how I think in this game. The article continues after the smile picture.[/img]

I began this game close to four years ago during V1. At that time, France had successfully conquered Spain. Spain was experiencing a babyboom during this period. The irony is that I found eRepublik without any bb messagss.

Before I continue, I shall now admit something I still find shameful (: to this day: my first months in eRepublik was spent hailing EDEN. I was young and ignorant of how things really were. To steal and mangle a phrase from Rangeley's most recent article, how can someone see beyond the walls of their prison?

After all, THE ENTIRE ALLIANCE SYSTEM IS A PRISON.

But that's a story for another day as the saying goes. Back to the topic. I don't know what I would be if it weren't for finding a certain article. I have forgotten the name and what it was about, but I do remember the author. His name was Arjay Phoenician. Not Ajay Bruno.

It was as if my mind was scrambled, removed, shaken, and returned into a massive mess. He was an idealist, someone who wished to see things as they could be instead of as they actually were. Some of his themes are things eAus has come to follow: trying to fight for the smaller nations against the larger (at least in rhetoric), separating from the alliance system that only benefits the strong (non-alignment). No matter how he presented it, the message was consistent.

It also broadened my thinking greatly. I couldn't continue to blindly hail EDEN once they acted as Phoenix (the enemy alliance at the time for new readers) did. I grew to hate both alliances, one more than the other admittedly. Eventually, I would leave Europe to never return until I finally chose to die.
I have travelled and have been a citizen for a few nations before becoming eAussie. One of my main motivations has always been bettering the small nations (eChina as it became a great power, eNZ and eAus). And I will continue to do this until the day I eDie.

Arjay Phoenician III is the newest account of the man I considered a guide when I was new to the game. It is to him that I owe something of a debt. While I am not the idealist he is, he did assist in shaping my views on the game. This has restored my inspiration, momentarily killed by RL pain. And I come back to find the eAus spirit burning as well.

The world is once again changing. Two new alliances have once more taken the stage. Again history is repeating itself. But just as the New World is once again plunged into the depths of war, so we continue to move forward. Why do we continue to plunge forward?

WE ARE ALIVE!

Ladies and gentlemen, we are alive. No matter what has happened, we still breathe. And as long as we as a country have breath, eAustralia will never falter. That is our reality. That is our true identity.

AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI!
