War Weariness

Day 1,311, 14:29 Published in Japan Ireland by Hitoshi Makoto

Well, I'm now officially sick of fighting. Anybody else?

Used to be one can walk down the street without having to fight Spaniards and Koreans. Now we're in so many fights that you'd swear we'd walked into LA. Of course, it's not only the breadth of wars but the depth. After you kill a few of eAmerica's enemies; go home, take a nap, watch Seinfeld (my favourite one is the one with the Soup Nazi; not specifically for the guy and his catch phrase but rather the allegory for wartime Poland. That's f*cking hilarious) and maybe grab a bite to eat (or 45).
Then you're back on the streets, Gimli at Helm's Deep style.

The situation has the military-industrial complex in FUBAR, the SNAFU in AWOL, and the YMCA in NAMBLA. Or something. On top of that, the game has essentially developed in the WRONG DIRECTION. Let me explain why.
Most games over the past...we'll say two years, games that have specifically moved from combat-intensiveness to skill and profession building. eRepublik is doing the exact OPPOSITE.

It's essentially like this; and we're Moe. When we're being eclipsed by f*cking DDO in terms of advancement in game mechanics and styles, there's a problem.
I'll admit, I'm actually a HUGE fan of professions in games. And to see it in eRepublik, would be amazing. Imagine a million different unique items, ones we could make, name, trade, and sell. Imagine multiple skills with their own rewards. Imagine breaking the monotony of Eat-Train-Kill and...

I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's face it, eRep admins have LONG abandoned making a fun and inclusive game to simulate the real world. That was v1 and as you've noticed by now, that's over. It's all about the Euros baby. The sweet, sweet, Euros. Development will never happen, because the military module is the only visible source of gold purchase.

For now, at least. Were the dev team half as creative as, let's say, this humble man of the people; then we'd all be rejoicing on how fun this game is and the admins would be able to suck us dry with variable content. Just think of all the RL money you could make if you sold "exclusive" items and profession patterns...

Nah, probably best to stick with things as usual. A lot safer that way.
