War Profiteers

Day 606, 09:50 Published in North Korea North Korea by Theel Maas

We live in troubled times - the world is at war. Powers shift, lines are crossed. It has been said that the only truths in our existence are death and taxes. You might ask, "What's the point?" The answer is simple: money. Someone stands to gain from this conflict. In this report I tell you who.

On the one side you have taxes, orchestrated by congress. These men just happen to be campaigning for re-election. Employing nationalist pride to their gain is the status quo. What better way to inspire the multitude than creating a foreign enemy?

On the other side you have the defense contractors, weapons manufactures mostly. Charging ever higher premiums for the guns simple folk make. They'll say it's simple supply and demand, that they can't even keep up as our president summons the people to fight.

Who is to blame? Better yet, who is doing something about it? I give you Animalevic, a congressman from the Chagang region. He has sponsored a bill intended to lower the level of import tax imposed on foreign weapons. It seems to have the support of congress. According to congress, this will improve competition in the market, keeping costs low for me and you.

Perhaps these elected officials do serve the people. The jury is still out on our weapons dealers.
