War in France: Why?

I have wondered what's the purpose of freeing Switzerland by attacking its occupants: France. I mean, when France came to our aid in the American Revolutio, did it attack England. Of course not, they were not willing to send the bulk of their troops to attack the military giant at the time. So instead, they provided us with a much needed navy to counter the British Royal Navy. In the end, it more came down to the fact that we knew the geography of the area and the inefficiency of transporting troops from England, accross the Atlantic Ocean, and into the American Colonies.

So, instead of help funding a resistance war in switzerland to give them their independence, we are attacking France and creating a massive calamity of who gets what. Their is no question that we could beat France, for our numbers surpass any nation and certainly make a quick route. But like I said, this makes everything a political mess; since this invasion is also being joined by our Atlantis Allies, they might want portions of France, and even Switzerland. There is no possible way to determine who gets what, and since we will some bullcrap that we inspired the people for this invasion, so we should receive the bulk of France will only further degrade our reputation.

Lastly, I want to close with a good joke by the infamous comedian Lewis Black about Dick Cheney shooting his friend in a hunting trip. He said he found the bird, and shouted, "Bird, Bird, Bird, and turned the gun on his friend". This is like this situation (somewhat), "Switzerland, Switzerland, FRANCE!"
