War and Wellness (PEACE and Patriotism)
St.John McCloskey
There are a few viewpoints in the eUS regarding the idea of eWar. There are many who are ePacifists, and many that aspire to become great soldiers, and many who dont much care one way or the other, but fight. So I have to ask, Why War?
People are often opposed to war because it intrudes upon the autonomy and self determination of other eNations. I do very much agree with this opposition.
Others oppose war for economic reasons, the main one being that infrastructure is destroyed during war, which takes much labor and capital to restore. Again, I do very much agree with this opposition.
But there is an upside to eWar. (not like RL War)
War games solve these issues. Not only do War Games help us live in accordance with nature, but they allow us to maintain not only our own general well being, but that of others also. This puts a more global spin on the goodness and wisdom that comes from well being.
That which increases one's general well being [read wellness] is by nature, good, and wise, and that which damages one's general well being is by nature, evil, and foolish. -Socrates
War increases wellness. In real life, it does not, War does incredible amounts of damage to one's general well being, even if you win!
eWar on the other hand increases general well being, and unless one is incredibly inept, cannot damage one's well being.
So, it would seem that Socrates would consider real world war to be evil and foolish, and eWar to be good and wise. Sounds good to me!
The object of life [read eLife] is to live in accordance with nature [read game mechanics] -Zeno
I know it's a bit of a stretch to say that our Citizen's nature is tied to the game mechanics, but truly, if the laws of the universe dictate human nature, where does ehuman nature come from? from the laws of the new world!
If the game mechanics were designed with war in mind, then war must be in the eCitizen's mind. It's always waiting there, just under the my places tab. It's always in the back of the mind at the very least!
After all, there's no moral connotations associated with eWar, no one gets hurt.
We're not going to make the whole map one color, and i see no reason to try. Through alliances and diplomacy, we can get the world to work cooperatively in a more effective way than a single country ever could.
PEACE cannot see this. PEACE cannot defeat us, because we are wise, we know how to stop them. We know what this game is, and we know how to fight them. We know that if they should land on our shores, if all of our defenses fall before them, if even our new Keep, our Alamo, in Kansas, should fall, we still have our minds, and our free will.
I don't know if our defenses will fall, I don't know what kind of monsters our enemies have at thier disposal, but I can tell you this. No matter what happens, America will never die.
We can hold revolts, resistances, rebellions, and revolutions until our pockets are empty. We can vote them out. We can PTO those sons of bitches back to their godforsaken islands, shove them back into their jungle homes. We know who we are. We know America, We know eRepublik. We know more.

DAMN GOOD ARTICLE!!
Enjoyed and voted...subscribed too.
nice article 🙂 (vote and sub at the earlier)
good to read such views about this game as somethign like this was one of my reason to join. comparing an artificial and the real life. 🙂
I found last part too patriotic, that is far from the title of the paper. So I ignore this. 😃
I like to explore this game i usually travel on the whole world. this is an interesting way to gather experiences and views, contacts.
I can see these new trends in the eUS but you should remember where American army fought. By side of Romania who wanted to paint the whole world one color. And your military groups helped them. Now lets go back to bolded words of Socrates.
So from Peace side it can be a deserved punishment. From your side if you really started a new way after Atlantis it is a rude and aggressive act with lies. (Nietzsceh about the truth)
So eUS should post more articles announcememnt about her newlife, her new goals. Then (maybe)US would have a chance to avoid that punishment or threat. 😃
There is another amazing detail of this game. There are little groups who save the ehistory. Most of them has a good picture close to the thruth. They are the oldies. and there are thousands of newbies who ahve just joined to the game. They have blank pages, empty glasses. And no memoirs. Good target to say anything and/or involve into the army, politics before they could be familiar with the former events. And from this point the circle starts again. They feel unfair some attack and want to strike back immidiately. 🙂
So what was first: the chicken or the egg? XD
"We can PTO those sons of bitches back to their godforsaken islands, shove them back into their jungle homes."
Xenophobic much? You need to visit the world around you.
Thanks, St. John, for such a thoughtful article.
Also thanks to Noel Guns of Brixton and Celtic Bank for spot-on criticisms and observations.
As an eAmerican, naturally I'll fight the e-invader with everything I can.
As a real human being, I have great respect for breakthrough Hungarian thinkers like Albert-László Barabási, for successful civil rights activists like Lázló Teleki, and I definitely appreciate the fun being had by the real Hungarians behind the e-game.
Now, let's get on with this war! 😃
"When they kick out your front door
How you gonna come?
With your hands on your head
Or on the trigger of your gun"
Oh guys 😃
thanks very much for your comments all.
Hey Celtic Bank, I have to stick in something about 'MERica hahaha
I actually intend to live in Malasya at some point in my RL if i ever get the opportunity.
And let's be honest, It's not like the Indonesians are peaceful immigrants looking for a better life.
Nope, they're eInvaders as Quinn so adequately put it!
Noel Guns of Brixon, thanks very much for your comment. You're absolutely right. My take on past wrongs has always been to admit them freely, but to not allow them to change anything you do. The wisdom you gain from mistakes should never be lost, but neither shame nor any other emotion from the past should change what you do.
We must admit past wrongs freely and move forward. I'm a IRL Catholic, and I'll be the first to tell you that the church has done awful and evil things. But hopefully we're past that. I'm not going to let past wrongs change what I do. Our country should be the same way. though perhaps less diplomatically.
you're right by the way, about the end being a bit overly patriotic/zealous. I considered breaking them into two, but decided against it to save eTrees 🙂
