Want to do things differently [PPC]

Day 539, 08:43 Published in Canada Canada by Alias Vision

In February, the PPC secured 24.2% of the popular vote in the Congress elections which translated into 14 seats and a tie for first with the CSD. The latest April results saw the share of the PPC support shrink to 15.3% and an embarrassing 3 seats. How could the fortunes of this young, dynamic party have changed so much in so short a time?

There are many answers, the main one being an exodus of leadership and a general malaise with the state of Canada and the opportunities found here.

I come to you today as one of only 2 remaining PPC Congressmen.

It is time to re-energize the party. It is time to transform the PPC from a placeholder to a movement that will re-invent and renew itself from the grassroots level.

That is why you will not see a policy platform on the military, taxes, industry, foreign affairs from me today. All those policy planks deserve and need to be decided by the party and not imposed by the president. The PPC is failing because there is no communication within the party. Although part of the coalition for change (CFC) we are on the verge of becoming irrelevant while the CEP goes from strengths to strengths.

I ask you today, for true progressive politics, support Alias Vision come May 15th. I arrived in the New World 159 days ago… and for 159 days I have worked for this country. That is the level of dedication I bring to the position of President of the party and that is the level of work I will bring to task. I will not quit mid-mandate, I will not exile myself in foreign lands looking for greater glories. I will not be silent.

As party president I will focus on two priorities:
- Better communication with the membership base.
- Expanded presence in Canada as a whole with the goal of fielding candidates in each region come the next Congress elections.

If done properly, those two tasks will be a full time job. The party will see a multiplicity of views debated and will see itself stronger for it.

As a young citizen, if you are looking to make an impact, I urge you to consider the PPC and help me transform the party at the grassroots level. Let the voice of citizens guide us in our choices and let's return the hope and dynamism that this party had at its beginning.

To veteran and longtime PPC supporters, a vote for me is a vote for steady, capable leadership. Allow me to work with you to set the PPC on a path of success once more.

Thank you for your time and support.
