Vote for Connell - Part 2

Day 1,047, 14:52 Published in Ireland Ireland by King Connell
Firstly, I unfortunately have to address something in case anyone doesn’t read the comment section in DT’s second last article. I believe that elections should be won on policies and vision, but Donovan Thomas accused me of being in a position to stop the problems within the IDF which I outlined in my last article. This is not the case, I haven’t had access to those orgs in weeks. That's not true, they are lies. That’s all I want to say on it, because that’s all there is to it.

So to get away from the petty politics and get on with the policies!

What everyone wants to know is what about Ireland joining Eden?
I’d like to say that I see Eden as the next frontier for eIreland, I think it’s vitally important that we do whatever we can to facilitate for the best possible chance that we’ll secure admission into Eden. There will be much more about this in an article released tomorrow along with the Economy, but I’ve been getting a lot of questions about it and I just wanted to make it clear that Eden will be a priority.

The rest of this article is going to address something which I think is vitally important for eIreland to get stronger:

Recruitment and Retention
So the military module has reverted back to the wall, this has made it harder for small countries like Ireland to be a strong military force

Wandering Rian once said these wise and true words,
“active players are our most valuable resource“

The more active players we have the more ideas for improvements we get, the more competition for government, more soldiers and a greater demand for goods on our markets. So even if we can manage to get a slight population increase, then the country will get stronger as a whole.

eIreland has a lot of potential as a country, but something which has always been holding it back is it's population size. Ireland in real life isn’t a huge country and that certainly doesn’t help us, but if we look at the rest of the eWorld there are exceptions to the rule “small country in RL, small country in erepublik”. Hungary for instance has around twice the population of Ireland in real-life, but last election time they had nearly 8 times more voters than us in erepublik. So there must room for improvement in how we deal with keeping our players playing.

We Need Stronger Babies

CelticTiger211 has done such great work for recruitment in this country, but our population numbers have still been going down.
In the period that he’s been Minister for Recruitment he’s brought 60+ people to Ireland sadly however he only has 1 Society Builder medal(which he doesn’t actually have due to a bug) e.g. only 10 people that he invited out of the 60+ made it to even lvl10. Of those 60+ people only 6 are still playing, that in my opinion is a pretty woeful return, from this example we’re keeping less than 10% of the people joining this game. We can’t be that boring, but seriously that is a really poor return and this is how I think we can improve that retention rate.

The Solution
We don't all come back to this game everyday just to push a few buttons, to work and train. We come back because of the social aspect, possibilities for political success, military success, monetary success or even just having some fun in the media.

Communication between government and all new players is key. This can be implemented very easily, shouting little snippets of information, hints and tips. Shouting links to articles about daily living or just something going on in the country, a funny article perhaps, a video on youtube. They don’t have to be erepublik related, but just something to make sure that if they log in on their second or third day playing, there is something there for them other than a bunch of articles talking about stuff they do not understand and two buttons they have to press. The game for a noob is not immediately interesting and we have to try keep them coming back.

The aim is to create an eIrish community where they feel as though they belong and are cared about. The ministry of New Citizens org and Ministry of Community org could be such great channels of communication, but it’s lying dormant right now. Getting noobs involved is the best way to ensure that they’ll stick around in the future and that’s what we need.

Health
The Health ministry, it is such an important tool for citizen retention. Paschoall developed a super system all those months ago in v1, unfortunately this term he hasn’t been able to be as active as he used to be and the ministry has been somewhat forgotten about. This is a highly important ministry for keeping our younger players playing and particularly now with the changes in the war module, more and more younger players will need this service.

In closing, it’s the people in the country that makes a country great. We must do our best for our new players so that they may become the heroes of tomorrow.
