V2-preparations #5 - FAQ

Day 902, 14:07 Published in South Africa South Africa by Calew

Here’s the final article of my series; V2-preparations. In the comment section of my last articles I have received a lot of questions, which I have tried to answer as well as I could. Now I have made a Q&A/FAQ-article, which I hope will be of some help to those who still have doubts. Thanks for taking time to read this series; I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. If you haven’t read the previous articles, I would recommend that you do so:

V2-preparations #1 - Introduction
V2-preparations #2 - Skill-migration
V2-preparations #3 - Military module
V2-preparations #4 - General Manager

Q: Will the Moving ticket-industry no longer be restricted to Q1?
A: Exactly, in V2 a Q1-ticket will only allow you to travel a short distance. If you want to move halfway around the world you will need a Q3/4-ticket.

Q: Will I be able to convert my land skill to another skill?
A: Admins have not revealed this yet. The fact that the raw material-industry won’t be changed indicates that you may not be able to do so. But we’ll have to wait for the next eRep-insider to see what admins have decided.

Q: Will my current skills be automatically transferred to the most suiting, new skill?
A: No, when V2 is implemented you will be allowed to choose which skills you wish to migrate to.

Q: Do I have to be around eRepublik 24/7 to be a good soldier in?
A: It’s pretty obvious that activity will play a bigger role in V2. However, this doesn’t mean that players should be forced to spend all of their time on eRepublik. Always having IRC up is a good way to make sure you can easily be contacted if need be.

Q: How long will each turn on the battlefield be?
A: Admins have not revealed this yet. But to judge from screenshots and logic, I would say that each turn will be around 3 minutes long.

Q: Will I be able to see what weapon my opponent will use when I’m deciding who to attack?
A: I highly doubt it. However, from looking at his skill you can easily figure it out. If he only has one skill he will use a weapon for that skill, if he’s got multiple skills it most likely that he will use the one with most skill.

Q: How many people can I attack in one 24h battle?
A: As long as you have enough health and you always have an opponent you will be able to fight 480 times during 24 hours (assuming that each turn is 3 minutes).

Q: What happens if I lose a battle?
A: Your health will drop to 30 (assumption) and you will automatically be evacuated from the battlefield.

Q: How long will it take to recover to 100 health if I lose a battle?
A: Since hospitals only will be available on the battlefield you will have to make your way from 30 health to 100 through eating and resting. Admins might have something up their sleeve, which they haven't revealed you, which will help you recover. But at the moment I believe recovering will take a few days.

Q: What happens if there are no soldiers from one side?
A: Obviously you won’t be able to fight, but you will still be able to move and conquer tiles.

Q: What will happen to current gift-companies?
A: Admins have indicated that you will be able to convert your gift-company into another industry.

Q: How much gold will I need to start a company?
A: In V2 you will need 40 gold to start a company. 20 out of this will go to creating the company, this will “disappear”. The other 20 will automatically be put into the company’s account. This will be used to pay salaries and buy raw material. The reason for this change is to make sure that new companies don’t go bankrupt and to make sure that too many Q1-companies aren’t created.

Q: How will the quality-level affect the product?
A: Quality-level will be pretty similar to how it is right now; when you upgrade your workers will lose more health when they work, they will produce less and you product will be better. The only difference is that you now will be able to choose how to improve your product. You will be able to place customization points, which affect what effect the product has.

Q: When will V2 be implemented?
A: The question everyone asks but no one knows the answer to. Admins said they only have one more article to publish about V2, so we can expect it rather soon. I would say that it’s implemented sometime in June.

Q: What will happen to the current newspapers and political parties?
A: As far as I know admins will not make any changes in these areas, so they will remain as they are.

Q: What will happen to current items in our inventory?

A: There have been rumors that all inventory and stock in companies will disappear, but I doubt it. I believe that it will remain as it is.
