V1 pushing for a planned economy?
The Ministry of Work
Now don't get me wrong this is not a push for Gov. intervention, this is musings of the things that have happened in V1 that could help our economy.
Some people may say that V1 is crap, and while this may be true, we need to start thinking outside the box and start realising the potential that it has given us.
V1 Food and Wellness
With the coming of V1 came some new and shall we say interesting ideas for the effects of food and wellness. With the coming of V1 food of the lower Qualities have become pretty much useless. We could probably scrap all Q1 and it would not matter. Most people now have to buy at least Q2 food no matter what quality they work at in order to keep their wellness at 100%.
Food was already a struggling industry and this heavy blow from the admins took into assurance that this industry in the lower Qlevels would not survive except for maybe 1 or 2 companies.
The main thing to note is that most food is purchased from Q3, Q4 maybe Q5 as well.
Good or Bad?
V1 and Beta need of Q1 in guns
What can I say, there is no real demand. Only on the following occasions will these be bought: A new player wants to feel tough, after all Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5 guns are sold out, can't afford anything else.
Three occasions and with the higher ease of creating weapons the second occasion is even less likely. The combination of the first and third occasion being most likely 😛
.
The main thing to note here is that most guns are bought from Q4-Q5 maybe Q3 as well.
V1 and Beta need of Q1 gifts
Well all I can say is the need will be greater than ever with food not being all its cracked up to be and wars making hundreds if not thousands of gifts dissipate.
This is one of the only industries in manufacturing Q1 in V1 where more than 1 or 2 companies is viable.
The main thing to notice here is that Gifts are bought mainly from Q1 and Q2.
Skill groups in V1
What things do all these things have in common? They are all in the skill group called manufacturing. What do all these things have in common? A demand in only certain Q levels.
Now here is where it gets interesting....
If you have manufacturing skill you can work in any manufacturing industry whether that be guns or food or gifts and then later move across into other companies in other industries as long as they are in the manufacturing industry and still maintain you level of skill.
So what would happen if we ha😛
# Mostly Q4-5 weapon companies
# Maybe one or two Q3 weapons for those who can't afford otherwise
# Q3-5 food companies
# Maybe one or two Q2 food companies for lower Q workers
# Q1-2 gift companies
Could not all workers in manufacturing be sent up the Qlevels this way?
Would it not be economically efficient?
Could the same not be done in Construction?
Have they not given us the tools?
We have to decide for ourselves, are we to play smart or stubborn?
I hope this article is looked at in depth and gets us all thinking about the future of the e-UK, will it be a former glory or can it keep up with the times in this changing economic world?
YOU will decide.

Interesting. There are some good points there. Will we eventually get a full proposal from the DoW?
Good article, V&S.
First real article Cheeseball😛
Seriously though you have missed one point about q1 weapons and that is that they are effectively +60% as you lose 50% if you fight without a weapon.
Apart from that a good look at some of the changes
What are we going to do about it?
Pretty good market analysis, although I'm not sure you're looking at a "planned" economy. A planned economy is run through State Intervention in most cases, and this is basically just outlining the need of our economy, not necessarily who controls them.
Your analysis of the lower quality products is pretty spot on, but in regards to things like Q1 food and weapons it's pretty much always been that way unless you had a high quality house (in the case of food) and certain military tactics (in the case of weapons). Q1 weapons in a normal battle were pretty useless to begin with. They were more or less training and surplus.
Nice article though, effort was there 🙂
very good analysis, and good starting point for some constructive debate. V&S
Since it now only costs 40 GOLD to become a Q2 company (whereas it cost 60 in BETA) I think lower quality products were recognised as merely a stepping stone by the Admins.
Regarding gifts, you've not picked up on the vital point that actually, Q1 gifts are simply not viable anymore. They require the user to either pay RL money, not own a house (which is impossible for pretty much any job), buy food every single day, or spend about twice as long running between the market and user profiles. Q2 gifts are also pretty frustrating. V1 has created a decent reason for buying Q5 gifts, in my opinion, and as MoD, I would say that so long as they weren't that much more expensive, the reduction in time spent gifting would be worth it. I'm sure that the regional directors would agree with me.
@ Deilos gifts do not require real life money they are bought with gbp. Yes I can see how gifting with Q1 and Q2 can be difficult but its not to overwhelming and we need to have a few Q1 companies to be most efficient. I have done gifting before and its not too bad. It is more getting to the profiles that is tiring 😛 .
@ Tim maybe fair enough to have one Q1 company in the rare case off not having enough weapons which as Dish I'm sure agrees is not as likely with the admins new massive productivity rate.
@ Dish, as I have said in my article I believe Q1 food to have become pretty much redundant as houses and food do not give as much we find our selves reaching for the top shelf in terms of food.
This could solve a lot of the problem with overstocking as people move from industry to industry only working where there is demand.
I hope you all find the time to answer 🙂, thanks a lot, Minister of Work.
The productivity rate in finished products has been significantly reduced for now, the same will probably happen in RM eventually as well.
I have always looked at q1 weapons adding 60% rather than 10% since they prevent the loss of 50% of damage but for a professional of course you don't use them very often at all.
@ Deilos use a gifting script, it should make it a lot easier, unless the MoD or the government is willing to sponsor the massive investment to q5 gifts it is a large leap to make in a fragile industry.
I only use Q1 food and will always use it unless admin changes the wellness formula, along with my Q3 house that can maintain my wellness at 98, which is fine by me.
So I still think Q1 food has positivies.
But there is so much on the market it does not fit supply and demand. It fits supply:demand 10:1, if we can have one company we would fit it. Most companies in Q1 have a massive excess that they cannot sell even at ridiculously low prices.
If we can find a way to implement this our economy will be much better off.
I guess using a gift script would help. But from my point of view, without a gift script that can buy gifts as well, something that I don't believe Nelsaidi has managed to do yet, it will be an extremely tedious task anyway. When I said you would need RL money, I was referring to the need to have more than 10 inventory slots... so far, nobody has experienced gifting with only 10 slots, so you can't say just how bad it would be. I understand that it doesn't make much sense to upgrade yet, but if we can stabilise the gifts market, I don't see why gifts shouldn't upgrade in quality.
Perhaps Medics are more than ever essential come V1?
