Unrequited Love And Lost Opportunities
Ronald Kray
In this article today we feature a poem by yours truly (once again) that covers the broad and often grim subjects of unrequited love and lost opportunities. Now the poem that I have selected from my vast library speaks to the person who has the very relatable situation of being smitten with a person who either does not acknowledge ones presence or is simply not aware of it. It also features the taxing choice one faces with these sorts of feelings on whether to act upon your emotions or pass them up to save yourself from some projected embarrassment.
I have also decided that it would be more atmospheric and overall radical to include a song for you to listen to as you read the poem, so that you can further envelope yourself in the theme of the content as you are ingesting it with your eyeballs. Lemme know what you think of this new feature.
Anyway, back to the subject matter at hand.
Many people might not get to experience a full fledged relationship or some sort of romance, but I think everyone can relate to the concept of having feelings for another person and either missing the opportunity to act on them, or not having the chance at all. So for everyone with a burning flame in your heart; this poem is for you....
Watching From A Distance
It's always been my way
To be a faithful observer,
Rather than a romantic achiever,
Because I know I don't deserve her.
I think of the day
When I will finally be the man
That takes what he needs
With or without a plan.
But I know that's not me
I prefer to be the ghost
That haunts the background
Of a love that I want most.
I know I've got the rest of my life
But who can honestly say for sure?
There's only so many time's to miss a chance
At a love that is true and pure.
I should know it's down to me
To set the wheels in to motion
But am I ready for such pain
And such overpowering emotion?
I don't know whether to watch
Or to make the move I long for.
I know I don't want to lose again
This opportunity like before.
Today's Musical feature was Fatal Hesitation by Chris De Burgh.

Sounds like the poem for a stalker that's about to make his move.
Don't mind me, I like to think the worst of situation 😉
ESO is Love
Every Soul Outpoured.
Having strong feelings about somebody who feels nothing for you (or worse is 'friends') is just asking for trouble. It shouldn't have love in the description imo - it's infatuation or obsession at best. I moved to another town the last time I felt like that.
If you meet someone you like tell them straight away that you like them; that's the missed opportunity and generally the only opportunity you get in my experience if you're punching above your weight. If you are having to plan you've already fucked up - the ship is already sinking.
Living life as a tragic sentinel doesn't sound like much fun - I've done it many years ago. Just don't listen to 'Fascination' by everything but the girl - if you do it'll tear you to pieces
Hmm, is it okay to take life advice from the Internet serious?
That is advice alot of people could certainly do with, thanks for sharing. As for me I learnt all that the hard way and I'm now with someone who cares about me as much as I care about them, so it's all good :')
why does poetry burn so easily
