Ukraine, Peru Conquered as Spain Starts Counterattack, Day 1105

Day 1,105, 19:20 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

The Stars and Stripes Journal returns after a bit of a holiday hiatus, but eRepublik’s warfare has not missed a step. Traditional fronts faced new challenges, while new battles surfaced to international coverage during the past few days, leaving both EDEN and Phoenix backers satisfied in some areas and disappointed in others. Note: more has happened since my previous publication than is covered here-- some areas have been omitted to keep the length manageable. Let’s begin.

eGermany is returning to the map, and three more successful
resistance wars (numbered) bring the country closer to its full size

Germany Steadily Reemerges
Multiple German regions won by eFrance from ePoland in previous battles were attempted to be taken via resistance war (RW) on Day 1104, but eFrance held on to both Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia (NWP) after previously losing Hesse to the eGermans early in the day; however, by Day 1106, NWP and Lower Saxony and Bremen both fell and were returned to eGermany.

Brazil Moves up Iberian Peninsula, Sacks Spanish Capital
eBrazil has really raised the heat in their war against eSpain after having been previously removed. Since first advancing with a win in Andalucia on Day 1102, eBrazil followed it with victories in the past days at Castilla La Mancha and Murcia, creating a foothold in the Iberian Peninsula once more, although its attack on Canary Islands late in Day 1103 meant that eSpain still had forces bordering the Brazilian mainland. Regardless, its victories in Iberia enabled bold strikes by eBrazil against the eSpanish capital of Madrid on Day 1104 at 03:15, which was followed by a strike against neighboring Castilla y Leon (CyL). eSpain’s capital fell in the early hours of Day 1105, although Castilla y Leon was protected, due in part to eBrazil’s focus on Madrid; however, eSpain benefits from holding CyL as it borders the crucial iron and economic hub which could have subsequently been targeted if CyL fell. Clearly, the tables turned once more in a very volatile theater, just days after eSpain was cruising through France.

eSpain went from the attack on Day 1100 (left) to being put on the ropes less than a week later (right). Newer events have eSpain retaking the upper hand, in yet another twist to this theater

The volatility of the Iberian Peninsula cannot be denied, as eSpain opened a three-pronged counterattack on eBrazil during the 05:00 hour of Day 1105. Madrid was the first to be targeted, at 05:38, followed in the next few minutes with strikes against occupied Castilla La Mancha and Murcia. Early in the 08:00 hour, eSpain also began a pair of RWs for Andalucia and the Canary Islands, putting all of eBrazil’s conquests at risk. If eSpain can gain traction with these attacks, we may see the eBrazilians reduced in their Iberian posture or removed entirely from Europ; that being said, eSpain has demonstrated difficulty in keeping Phoenix powers out for long periods of time.

Chile Conquers Peru
In a continent which does not see much action or receive much coverage, eChile has conquered ePeru in a vicious onslaught which produced few setbacks and minimal resistance, culminating with the conquest of Lima on Day 1104. An attack that day against Chimor at 09:27 on Day 1106 brought the final remaining ePeruvian region under fire, and resulted in ePeru’s complete removal from the map after RWs for Low Andes and Southern Low Amazon failed to liberate any ePeruvian lands. Long a political takeover (PTO) nation run by ePoland, ePeru is supporting the war and rejecting peace to attempt a clean slate for its country now that the PTOers have largely disappeared, despite recent mutual protection pacts (MPPs) signed with eRomania and ePoland. Time will tell how things develop in the Southern Hemisphere.

eHungary has expanded across the eUkraine and are threatening to
wipe the EDEN-friendly nation off the map with a victory in Donbas

Hungary on the Verge of Overrunning Ukraine
Since the eUkraine first saw its war with eHungary begin, when the eUkrainians briefly held the offensive, the battlefront has only given the EDEN ally a string of defeats. The Phoenix power has beaten eUkraine at will, overrunning Subcarpathia; Galicia and Lodomeria; the invaluable Podolia; Bukovina; Volhynia; Polisia; and Bassarabia in the past week without facing a single setback. Additional attacks in Day 1104 against Dnipro at 02:39 and the 02:51 strike against Zaporozhia were simply more wins for the unstoppable eHungarian onslaught, followed with Day 1105 victories in Siveria, Sloboda, and Taurida mean that all of eUkraine could fall as early as the middle of Day 1106, as Donbas became the final region and is now being contested. Nevertheless, RW attempts unfolded to try and postpone eUkraine’s conquest, though several RWs from Day 1104 and many more in Day 1106 have been easily repelled by the invading eHuns.

UK Protects London on Two Fronts
The introduction of the eUSA into the British/Irish conflict reversed eUK gains in Ireland and raised the pressure on the eUK to a “bend, but not break” point, as the eUK has conceded several battles to the eUSA and eCanadians, but has managed to fend off attacks from both against London in the past several days. That being said, the eUK holds two regions now and both North American foes are right on the doorstep. Whether they are able to break the eUK down will remain to be seen; however, it is worth noting that history does favor the eUK[/url] here.

Appropriate for the holiday season, no?

Wrapping Up
Warfare in eRepublik is moving so fast that it can be hard to track, a fact this paper has dealt with for over a year. However, it is especially difficult when on holiday-- just a few days went by, and large swaths of the New World map have completely changed. Changes can be further expected, especially as eSpain attempts to roll back eBrazil, and either eUkraine or ePeru seek to return to the map. In the mean time, there are new events unfolding everywhere. Fight on!
