uaithne for Ireland's next President

Day 740, 16:56 Published in Ireland Ireland by uaithne

It is that time of the month. No not the time of month where we all gather up our loose change and take it to the bank. It is the time of month when we begin to think about who we want to be our next President. I ask you to think about hiring me to be just that. Yes I said hire me, for after all, it is for you that your government is intended to work, including the President.

Patton has led us amazingly for the last three months and while I feel that it will be difficult to fill his shoes, I won't say it is impossible. I assure you, I have the time and the determination. He has kept the country stable and I will do everything within my power, if elected, to do the same.

At this point you are probably waiting to hear about all of my past Ministerial titles, countries I have ruled, and crimes I have committed. Well, I have only held one Ministerial position, that of Minister of New Citizens, soon after it was created, under former IUP President Inquitus and former ISRP President Theus. I have never even left Irish soil so sorry, no countries ruled. As for past crimes, I have never, in my more than 13 months in this eworld, have ever wronged anyone, stolen anything, scammed a single citizen, or cheated a soul. I couldn't. It just isn't in my genetic makeup, or is it internetic makeup? Eight terms I have worked in Congress. Eight months I have spent doing my part to improve Ireland for the sake of all. That's a long time. Time to watch as some plans failed, and see how others succeeded. Time to know our senior citizensand watch some of our youth rise to prominence, I've known so many and am proud to call these many my friends.

I would also like to announce my running mate. Darragh O Faolain has been a treasure to Ireland and I have asked him to be my Vice President. Darragh is our current Minister of Foreign Affairs and is completing his 3rd term. Thanks to Darragh's hard work in this Ministry I think we can all agree that we are safer having him represent us on the world stage. For those of you who want a little insight into Darragh's philosophy, "It has always been my intention to have peaceful, cordial relations with as many nations as possible, without turning to an alliance, through the usage of our ambassadors and the Summit, as well as constant communication to the end. I think I have gotten along the way to doing this".

Darragh has been Party President of Irish Social Democrats and has recently become a valuable addition to the Irish Union Party. No matter what role he plays, he has Ireland's interest first and foremost in his mind. We have plans to make VP a more active role and will be discussing that in an upcoming article.

Military
I intend to to see that our military is organized. It has been run by great people in the past and so what I say is not against them but against the systems that have been created. I welcome new and different ideas, but when it comes to our military, I don't like to see the whole system changed every month. I would like to see some continuity there for safety's sake. I will make it a high priority to see that we get an organized, workable, well ran system in place. There is currently a vote in the Private Dail which our current MoF has pointed out some specifics in a recent article. I have been following this plan from the beginning and support it. One such specific point is to increase Chief of Staff term from one month to three. This will improve the continuity of any military plan we put in place.

Another plan is the push for government to create any system that will provide our organized soldiers with weapons to train with using whatever means necessary. Not only is this an aspect of eRepublik but I see it as a necessity to provide security to Ireland. Along with weapons we should also provide gifts which would allow more fights per day, thus helping our soldiers move up in rank faster and also increasing damage. We also need constant war games. I will negotiate with any nation necessary to provide constant training, and I will work closely with MoFA to bring constant war games. Ideally we we will have training wars 24/7. War games allow our soldiers to fight while we are not involved in a war but also has to potential to bring new citizens to Ireland.

In addition to this I have another plan that is still in the planning stages. This plan will involve each and every IDF member. I will share the final results of this plan as soon as they come to a conclusion.

Economy
Currently the economy seems to be at a good stable place. I will encourage providing assistance to company owners affected by the trade embargoes. Owning and running a business in eRepublik is a dream shared by many. If decisions made by the government impede on that dream, well then I will do what is possible to aid those companies so that they may prosper and and compete. I will strive to increase our GDP. By increasing exports and giving what aid we can to business owners affected by the trade embargoes, and by growing our population I will aim for an increase by at least 5%.

How will I grow our population? We currently have plans on how to more efficiently run our immigration system. I will see to it that this is being done according to plan as well as advertising through international articles our war games to those countries not already involved. My goal is to increase population by 5%.

Foreign Affairs
I strongly support the The Summit that our own MoFA,Darragh O Faolain, has worked so hard on along with Austrian President, Rangeley. This summit currently includes four different nations. This not only strengthens relationships between countries but also adds an element of entertainment.

As far as alliances go, I have tried to make my position known that I prefer to be cautious with the thought of Ireland joining any alliance. I see advantages and disadvantages in joining. I would like to see us as unencumbered as possible while at the same time retaining and building strong relations with foreign nations. As we have seen, no matter how large or what the objectives of an alliance, power changes, ideas change, objectives change. It is that which makes me cautious. Having said that, the President alone is not the sole person to make such a decision. That is what we have a congress for.

As for Ministries such as Minister of Health, Minister of Community, Minister of New Citizens and Minister of Education. These have been run well and those that have been doing so need to be commended. I do not foresee any major changes necessary though I will not be closed off to hearing ideas to improve any or all.

Transparency
Every Minister will provide a weekly report by Wednesday. Reports shall include any spending done by each Minister. In the event no monies are involved, reports shall include a summary of duties carried out, ideas up for discussion, etc. This is your money and you have a right to know where it is being spent.

Conclusion
All the time I've spent here with my countrymen has given me an insight. Familiarity with the skills my fellow Irishmen possess. Though it may seem slow, our economy and military is grows stronger everyday thanks to the efforts of these gifted individuals. We stand on a threshold today, soon newborn Irish will take for granted that which we have struggled so long to attain; a thriving economy, reliable wargames, and military weapons distribution will seem like a right instead of the priviledge we now know it to be.

All we need is a little more time, to maintain a steady course, and the results of so many people's efforts will be realized. I ask you for that time. A chance to finish what we have started. Will you give me the chance to see it to the end? Will you join me in bringing a new era to the people of Ireland?

If elected, I will be accessible to all as much as possible. So that is what I plan in a nutshell, as it were. I look forward to serving if you will allow me and to working with all to improve Ireland and bring her to great prosperity. I hope to see you December 5th for the Presidential Elections. Together we can bring a brighter future to Ireland!
