A bit of an off topic article...

As a die-hard fan of Total War since Rome 1, I'll be buying Total War Attila next year, but I haven't found any other TW fans on eRep yet.. But I can't be the only Total War fan on this site? In this article I'll be talking about the next Total War, Attila, and my favourite so far, Rome 2.

You've probably heard about the next instalment in the Total War franchise, Attila, which will bring Total War into a period they've only been to with BI. Hopefully Attila won't be another launch day failure, although some of the new and re-introduced features do sound good. So CA have brought back the family tree system. This'll be great for sorting out your heirs and you'll probably be able to marry off people and fiddle around with the politics through it. The family tree in Attila will hopefully be more complex than that of Rome 1.

The family tree in Rome 1 was a bit plain, hopefully CA won't forget what decade it is

It would also be cool if they brought back the customizable general from Shogun 2, but for some reason CA have decided to stress the fact that troops can now man the barricades, whereas in Rome 2 the only purpose a barricade served was to slow down the enemy for a couple of seconds or to make a rubbish funnel into a choke-point. Another minor change that CA seem to be incredibly proud of is that fires will now spread in your towns, this isn't a very big change but will annoy you a bit. CA have also added another annoying feature where the damaged buildings will show up on the campaign map too. Desolation will also be added into the game, this is where you can set your regions back to square one before you abandon them. This was a tactic that was a valid option in Rome 1 as you could knock down almost all of your buildings, so I guess they just re-introduced it.

They may be funny, but launch day failures don't make the game good!
