TRC: ELT Month-End report for May

Day 201, 07:59 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Kaleb

Here are the key economic indicators for the top 20 Erepublik countries by population for the month of May. I've dropped Ireland off the report and may add Germany but their population had mainly spiked due to support coming in for the war.

May was a significant month for many reasons, not least because it was the first time that Sweden got knocked off the top spot in terms of population and GDP. But if you look a bit under the surface they are still in many ways Erepublik's strongest nation. I'll discuss this more in a supplementary special report hopefully later today... so stay tuned!

I don't know how many people realised this, but the fastest growing country in May was actually Romania! And their population was not small to start off with either...

Workforce
1 Spain 1559
2 Indonesia 1546
3 Sweden 1487
4 Romania 1086
5 Italy 1052
6 Norway 652

15 Venezuela 285
16 Argentina 281
17 Brazil 221
18 France 195
19 Canada 174
20 Netherlands 138

In terms of both population and workforce the top 3 countries are all very close to each other.

Workforce Growth
1 Romania 86.0%
2 Argentina 75.6%
3 Spain 68.0%
4 Turkey 43.4%
5 France 35.4%
6 Italy 35.0%

16 Pakistan -5.5%
17 Sweden -6.8%
18 Brazil -10.2%
19 Norway -11.9%
20 Netherlands -17.4%

A number of countires saw their workforce grow stronger than their population indicating a fall in unemployment. This was most noticeable in the UK where we had a fall in population but a rise in our workforce.

GDP
1 Spain 11396.88
2 Sweden 9083.99
3 Indonesia 6994.38
4 Italy 6631.47
5 Romania 6359.03
6 Norway 4160.29
7 Pakistan 3337.62
8 Turkey 3319.17
9 Iran 3246.93
10 Austria 2789.8

17 Brazil 1262.73
18 Canada 1197.68
19 Argentina 1108.07
20 Netherlands 704.06

Sweden has been knocked off top spot in GDP by Spain - but much of Spain's growth has come from Gold investments, will they still hold top spot next month?

GDP Growth
1 Spain 122.3%
2 Romania 74.4%
3 Italy 63.6%
4 Turkey 49.9%
5 Hungary 41.6%
6 Pakistan 35.3%
7 Argentina 29.9%
8 Venezuela 10.8%
9 Austria 9.0%
10 USA -2.5%
11 Brazil -6.8%
12 France -7.2%
13 Indonesia -12.5%
14 Norway -12.7%
15 Canada -14.7%
16 Iran -17.4%
17 UK -18.3%
18 Sweden -24.8%
19 Netherlands -27.3%
20 Portugal -35.6%

Last month inflation in Spain was seriously out of control but the new government seems to have been a bit more sensible with their control of the money supply and this, together with the huge population growth (and corresponding gold investments), has seen Spain's economy soar in the last month to more than double what it was on May 1st.

RER
1 Brazil 16.32
2 Netherlands 26.12
3 Iran 27.15
4 UK 32.16
5 Sweden 35.39
6 Italy 37.56
7 Norway 38.46
8 Indonesia 40.87
9 Spain 43.09
10 Romania 45.86
11 Venezuela 46.39
12 Turkey 47.12
13 Pakistan 47.35
14 Canada 50.13
15 USA 54.99
16 Hungary 58.28
17 France 59.34
18 Austria 60.09
19 Argentina 93.88
20 Portugal 133.1

Brazil now has the lowest prices in Erepublik partly due to greater state intervention in the commodities markets. The Netherlands, Iran and the UK also retain low price levels whilst Portugal continues to have the highest prices in Erepublik.

RER Change (Iflation)
1 France 77.8%
2 Sweden 67.7%
3 Portugal 63.9%
4 Indonesia 47.8%
5 Norway 43.1%
6 Brazil 42.7%
7 Iran 38.3%
8 UK 35.6%
9 Argentina 35.4%
10 Romania 29.9%
11 Spain 28.4%
12 Canada 20.2%
13 Turkey 15.7%
14 Pakistan 5.6%
15 Netherlands 1.0%
16 Venezuela -2.1%
17 Hungary -9.7%
18 USA -20.9%
19 Italy -25.1%
20 Austria -25.9%

Inflation continues to be high across the Erepublik T20 but in a couple of countries prices have managed to drop significantly, noticeably USA, Italy and Austria.

GDP/Capita
1 Turkey 5.61
2 Norway 5.11
3 Spain 5.04
4 France 4.7
5 Iran 4.55
6 Hungary 4.44
7 Canada 4.28
8 Austria 4.27
9 Sweden 4.25
10 Italy 4.22
11 UK 4.14
12 Pakistan 3.91
13 Brazil 3.8
14 Romania 3.72
15 Venezuela 3.69
16 Indonesia 3.08
17 Netherlands 3.01
18 Portugal 2.98
19 USA 2.59
20 Argentina 2.32

Turkey manages to keep top spot in the GDP/Capita stakes, well done to them. But as I will show in my Special Report GDP/Capita and GDP/Worker are actually not the best way to compare the average wealth or productivity of Erepublik's citizens in the Top 20 economies.

GDP/Worker
1 Iran 8.48
2 Turkey 8.1
3 France 7.71
4 Spain 7.31
5 Pakistan 6.94
6 Canada 6.88
7 Norway 6.38
8 Italy 6.3
9 Sweden 6.11
10 Hungary 5.89
11 Romania 5.86
12 Austria 5.79
13 Brazil 5.71
14 UK 5.5
15 Netherlands 5.1
16 Venezuela 4.99
17 USA 4.68
18 Indonesia 4.52
19 Portugal 4.21
20 Argentina 3.94

Pretty similar to the GDP/C except that Iran comes on top due to their higher unemployment rate. However, Argentina remains the bottom of both tables.
