Training vs Earning

Day 2,601, 03:21 Published in Japan Japan by Eikyuu

I have recently talked to a few citizens about the efficiency of training contracts and I was surprised to find that there are some misconceptions about the whole idea. Contrary to what people expect, you will lose gold while doing it.

I am sure many experienced players know this, but at the same time many misunderstand this due to simple approximation or intuitive thinking. Most of all, the new citizens should be aware of how it works, so I decided to elucidate it with some simple calculations.

Let us assume the best case scenario, so the highest level of training facilities and the 90% discount. Since the contract lasts 30 days, the training gain in strength is

train strength gain = (20 + 10 + 20 + 40) * 30 = 2700.

At the same time you gain the bonus from completing your daily tasks which is 1+1+1+1+5 = 9 per 5 days, or 54 per 30 days. Thus,

total strength gain = 2754 = 11 * 250 + 4.

This means you get 11 Super Soldier medals and 4 points of strength counting towards the 12th medal. The best case scenario is that you started the contact with the progress of 246/250 strength points (or more) which together with the above would give you the maxim number of 12 medals all in all.

Each medal is worth 5 gold (g) and that gives 5 * 12=60g of income. However, we now have to subtract the costs. The training facilities with the discount add up to

train cost per day = (0.19 * 10% + 0.89 * 10% + 1.79 * 10😵 = 0.29g
train cost per month = 0.29*30 = 8.7g.

Note that each item is paid separately and daily so it has to be rounded before being multiplied by the number of days. Putting it all together with the contract's cost we get

total cost = 8.7 + 53 = 61.7g.
profit = 60 - 61.7 = -1.7g.

As you can see, the whole process costs you 1.7 gold. Of course, it also gives you a big strength boost - there is no denying that. However, the point that I wanted to make is that you pay for it - not earn money from it.
