Today is OK

Day 1,484, 18:39 Published in Canada Canada by Nosyt

Like last month, EPIC has been encouraged to select an ATO candidate for the PP elections. Last month’s poll was hastily set up, and as a result only received 12 votes. This month I decided to use the same voting system as the presidential primaries. We had a turnout of 46 voters, which is one of the highest turnouts I’ve seen in awhile. Pre-determining a PP may go against EPIC’s traditional style, but it’s becoming a necessary method in eCanada. (We said the same thing about strategic voting in the congressional elections as well)

So let’s get on with the results.

Round 1

Initial results show Pimp has a strong lead, but we’re not quite over yet. Since 48% isn’t quite a majority, we replace CA Malum’s first preference votes with the second preference, and re-tally.

Round 2

So so close, but no dice. Pimp has 50% which is just 1 short. So now we move to sudden death between Beeman and Pimpdollaz.

Round 3

And now, with a 54% majority, Pimpdollaz is EPIC’s official ATO candidate on the 15th. Congratulations, and here’s to another awesome month.

Round 3 Doc

Now I’d like to address the comments. As usual there’s a large amount of positive feedback, indicating that the GDoc method is more than an acceptable polling method. A couple members have asked for more information about the candidates, and in future primaries, I would recommend asking all candidates to provide a link to some kind of platform. Those links could then be included in the voting form, the mass PM, and even an article.

There was one anonymous member who filled out the form with a question. Since I have no idea how to contact anon, I’ll respond here.

“Is this for real? I have spoken to other party presidents and they were not asked to do this. Also, the drop down list appears to be missing people... seems kind of pre-biased.
I kind of like EPIC, but stuff like this makes me question the party....”

For starters, the whole pre-determined PP idea is as legitimate as people allow it to be. I can ask candidates to step down, and I can ask members to vote for a certain person, but I can’t guarantee anything.

Parties were indeed requested to have an internal poll of sorts. Pics or it didn’t happen right? 🙂

The Ministry of Domestic Affairs also needs ATO voters! If you're willing to sacrifice your vote, please send Gherk a PM.

All in-game candidates were messaged twice prior to the primaries; those who did not respond were not included on the drop down list. But I agree, it seems slightly biased, there’s no reason I had to exclude them. If members elect a candidate who can’t respond to a PM, then I have no right to stop them.

Questioning the party is good, and something that’s encouraged in EPIC. I hope that clears things up~

And that concludes my time on the boss’ chair here at EPIC. Thanks for a great month guys!
