To fight or to complete DO or to wait?

Day 2,097, 10:29 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Bigheaded

So a lot of new players at the moment are pelting out damage like no tomorrow.

1. Where should you be fighting?
2. So, how much of an effect is it really having?
3. What else is there to do?
4. What did i do?
5. TLDR, summary.

1. Where should you be fighting.
Lets start with the first one. You should generally be fighting for the fight your MU has set to the daily order. So click homepage and click fight on the daily order. The only time you should be fighting elsewhere is when people you think know what they are doing, say to fight elsewhere (generally will only be for UK fights) and the DO isn't set yet because your MU commander/regiment leader hasn't changed it yet.

2. What effect are you likely to have on the battle itself.

It's worth looking at this screen first.
Which side is winning in general?
Is it a close fight?
Also, check your military unit to see how important they think the fight is, go to the homepage and view the comments section, if the highest comment set by the Military Unit Commander and has info on the fight, it's likely to be important. If there's no info. It usually means it's not particularly important.
For there will be times we may be losing a region we desperately need to keep, so even if it isn't "close" we will need all the damage you can do.

Next, how much damage has been done. I usually look at this to get a general idea.

In this particular image (from the same fight as the above picture) shows exceedingly little damage has been done that there isnt even a top 5! Only 3 members have hit for this division. In general there will be a top 5.

The question is, can you get into the top 5? If so, you're likely to push the % bar a long way. Where the country your fighting for then gains points.

Let us suggest, as in this example, that while we can change the impact of the fight, it's not worth fighting for anyway.
What would you do?

Lets start with the wrong one: Fight and cause your side to win that one battle.
Why is this not an option? because the campaign to win/defend that area has been lost. Your are simply wasting food and weapons to not useful purpose. The only reason to change the fight, is to win the battle hero (generally to those reading this, will be more costly than the 5 gold is worth anyway)

So,3. What else is there to do?
1. Complete the daily order. This brings you an energy bar and a bazooka. You should only be using these for hunting battle heroes, for events and for fights we need to win.

2. Don't fight at all! This saves you the cost of weapons and food, which lets you sell them to pay for things such as training grounds upgrades. You instead gain strength without gaining much experience.

So just as a suggestion very much worth considering:
4. What did i do when i was at lower levels?

To begin with Division 1:
Completely daily order each day. Worked and trained each day, collected the reward (bonus strength/exp).
In some military units (such as legion) all you need to do is request weapons and you'll be given some, should you have ran out. Weapons will kill the opponent using less of your health, so it's easier to complete the daily order. It also boosts you're influence faster to gain ranks.
When i had collected enough bazookas, i used them to claim a battle hero (i usually kept ~40, so could deal an impressive 1.2 million! so should someone try and take it from you, you can ensure you get enough damage to get it yourself). I usually did around 500k, and then waited till it was nearly the end of the fight, and ensure it wasn't taken.
All money earnt went into upgrading my training grounds during the 45% off events. These come round every ~2 months, so well worth waiting for!
Do NOT upgrade factories until you've finished upgrading the first training ground (which is free to train in). It's possible to reach level 4 training grounds before you even hit division 2.

Division 2:
I spent 2 months training my strength. This is "2 clicking", click work (get a decent pay for 2 exp), click train. This improved quite dramatically my gold supply which let me finish the 0.19 training ground as well as the damage i dealt, whilst keeping my level as low as possible. Should there be a fight worth fighting for (such as protecting UK regions) i had plenty of food for them and dealt as much damage as possible. I was generally able to get into the top 5 and change the course of the fight.
There is not a lot of point racing towards division 3 (level 30+) without having a decent amount of strength (6000 i would call "decent").

After these 2 months, i began doing the daily order to increase rank and to collect EB's and bazookas. So that should i be needed, i could deal the damage required.

It's worth noting that my "top damage in a campaign" was dealt at level 28, with roughly 7000 strength. That is the power of saving those energy bars.

5. TLDR, summary.
1. Fight for the daily order, but see if it's a fight we need to win. Otherwise do not fight at all, or get the daily order completed (25 kills) to collect the reward and no more.
2. Consider having a period of no fighting at all, seeing fighting costs money. Sell all your produce and work on upgrading training grounds. They are hugely important and the first one earns massive amounts of gold. The second one at level 4 makes a "small" amount as well as giving strength.
3. Check your MU to see if there's an important battle going on and help as much as possible.
