Thoughts From the Citadel: Forward, march!

Day 1,850, 04:44 Published in Israel Israel by Xenophanes

Contrary to what some may expect upon opening this article, I did not write this to repeat what I've already expressed via other comments, namely concerning the current administration's designs for the eIDF. Instead, rather, this has inspired me to pursue something in this game which I never thought I'd wish to do, and that is entering the world of politics.

In the real world, being a U.S. Army Infantryman and NCO (e-5, Sergeant), it wasn't my place or my desire to change anything, merely to do as I was told and do it well. Even here, for the longest time, I was content to be a soldier and climb the ranks of the eIDF. Back before private and in-game MU's (truly an abysmal decision on part of the eRepublik crew), climbing the ranks depended not on the democratic-popularity-contest-nonsense it is now, but purely on individual virtues and superior qualities. Even as General of the eIDF, although I had complete command over all eIsrael's armed forces, the position of "Minister of Defense" not existing at that time, I still could change very little in the way of eIsraeli politics.

The time has come, at last, to move passed mere soldiering and into the seats of congress. This game has changed greatly from when I first began playing in 2009. Whereas then, being a career-soldier was a game all on its own and had its own politics, now that path is greatly diminished (thanks, again, to private, in-game MU's). Being a professional soldier now means essentially nothing in terms of game mechanics; what matters, thanks to the ever-increasing demand for gold, are medals and profile avatars. And as always, politics dictate the world. I wish to have my hand in it, for the glory of eIsrael and her citizens, for the glory we so rightly deserve.

Thanks for reading.
