The wonders of Change

“If nothing ever changed, there'd be no butterflies.”

The greatest thing we have been blessed with in life is change. It is the essence of life, the reason my life can be amazing. And it is something erepublik has gone through many times previously and craves it now, more than ever.

I have been away for the last three weeks and I returned to see the whole eWorld has changed and is in the process of even more radical changes. I return to see a complete shift in the world’s political structure. No more do we run along the lines of Phoenix and Eden; today we have member states leaving in hordes and not a new alliance in PANAM. We see the steps to a complete change with talks of a Hungarian-Poland based alliance, Hungary and Serbia leaving Phoenix and other countries disillusioned by the focuses of their allies.

The next few weeks should see countries sought themselves out; distinguish who are allies and who are enemies. We could see a state of multiple major alliances, very different to today’s system (pre PANAM) which is European centered with only Eden and Phoenix. We could also see former enemies become friends; and friends become enemies.

This has added much excitement to a game which was in the process of stagnating with the same battles day in and day out between the same enemies. No longer will the endless and frankly boring battle between Romania and Hungary dominate the world. The worlds focus will be everywhere, protecting their own interests from nations which no too long ago were their allies. New battles will spring up, new rivalry’s will form and new memories will flied our heads of epic battles between nations which had never fought before.

And for me, this is just what erepublik needed. It is no secret that this game is in a rut. Citizens are getting bored and are quitting shown by the decreasing number of players. People are no longer interested whether Romania or Hungary is successful; whether Croatia will attack Serbia or not. People want variety and we have been blessed with change which should bring around that variety. This change is exactly what is needed to reignite the game and possibly bring it back to its old heights.

I for one will embrace the change and change with it. The time has come to make crucial decisions over which allies who wish to stay close to and which not or which enemies will become your friends. Old rivalries may need to be put on hold for the greater good of each country and long standing friendships may cease to exist. But that is what keeps the game exciting and it is what is needed to keep people playing.

Change is a remarkable. Change is the reason you exist today; change is the reason you are who you are. And in erepublik, change can be as important. It has the ability to keep the game fresh; to entice players to stay or return. As the eWorld changes, we will be forced to change so as to stay alive.
