The Unity Party Sleeps. Eadie for TUP PP.

Day 478, 23:52 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Eadie
Awakening a Sleeping Giant.

When you think of The Unity Party what comes to mind? A flashy logo? A Squid? Excellent congress results? Or how about woeful participation in country presidential elections?

The chances are more of you are thinking of the later. Who actually remembers the last time The Unity Party had a candidate? Well you would have to have been active way back in November 2008, four elections ago. That is pretty shocking for one of the top 3 parties don't you think?

With that in mind, as well as what I see as a deterioration of party in recent months, I would like to present myself, Eadie, as a candidate for Party President this month. I am one of, if not the longest serving party member, so I have experienced the good and bad times, and I believe now is the time to throw my name forward. The big guns of recent months have moved on or stepped back, now is the chance for others to step forward out of the shadow. Now is the chance for change.

My ideas for moving The Unity Party forward are simple.

Firstly despite the parties leanings away from it's aggressive routes and then later Alain Bates' ill fated policy for taking foreign regions, I believe our military policy should be to make the UK a more aggressive global force. I am certainly not proposing we rush out and re-take Belgium or go for beers and good times in Paris. However I am suggesting we look to build our policies to be opportunistic and to support more regular activity for the lower level troops such as the Navy.

Secondly, forum activity is at a low point. Certainly not at the lowest level but pretty close. What is even worse that we have a high number of elected congressmen yet many are never to be seen in the actual party forums! We need to not just encourage new players onto the forums but also herd the older members back in. If you don't know where they are already then follow this link: http://forums.erepublik.co.uk

Thirdly I want to see the party becoming more active in promoting what we stand for. There should be regular articles detailing not just what is going on in TUP headquarters but also how the party stands on key events and issues.

Finally, and most importantly of all, I will make sure we have a fitting candidate for the next Presidential Elections. Someone who will not just make up the numbers but be in the position to challenge.

I would like to wish Iain Keers and Areas989 the best of luck in the elections. No matter who you vote for on Saturday, you will be voting in a new dawn for The Unity Party and one that I hope you will come and get involved with.

Thank you for reading, Eadie
