The Strategy of War

Day 1,675, 20:46 Published in Switzerland Switzerland by sgtchewy

Sometimes when we go to fight I wonder how well we we've thought this out. I wonder if we could have planned it better. I think sometimes we just don't think through the strategy of war.

Last month’s war with Germany served up a perfect example. At one point I heard, (I may have been receiving misinformation) that we only needed to win one battle in order to keep a region long enough for it to get a congress. There was no plan for battle; we threw everything we had at them...in an uncoordinated jumble. I think we could have won a battle if we had timed it so that everyone attacked in the same battle, giving us the best possible chance of success.

Mind you, this next war may have nothing of the kind come up, so don't assume we need to arrange a coordinated just yet. However I would like you to keep some things in mind, to give us the best possible chance at winning.

1. If we are winning a fight by more than 10%, DO NOT fight anymore (except in the first 15 minutes of the battle). You can keep an eye on the battle and see if it dips below that point so you can fight then, but please don't waste unnecessary influence on a battle that we've already won.

2. Don't fight in a battle that we've already lost as well. Often times I've been tempted to see how much I can change the influence meter all by myself. The truth is, often you can't change it at all. If the other side is winning by 15% or more, PLEASE don't fight in this battle either, except if it is less than 15-30 minutes into battle. If the other side is winning by a large margin outside of the first couple of minutes, often it's too late to try to turn the tables. In a couple divisions it might be wise to check to see how many people have fought so far, because often you’ll get only a couple of fighters in those divisions, making it easy to influence the direction of the battle. The number of fighters can be estimated by checking the Top 5 statistics table.

3. I suppose that this should have been number one, but I’m really too lazy to change it. Keep up to date with our MoD, Gucio16 and our vice ministers, Lotus Black and ikacar. They will tell you any info on the current war that you need to know. When the next attack will be, where it will be, and who is giving away supplies. If there ARE coordinated strikes they will also be in the loop about that. Another person to check with would be Patar333 but he is a busy guy so he might not have time to answer a lot of questions.

4. Save bazookas until closer to the end. Chances are that this is completely ridiculous advice that means nothing, as it requires us to win a battle by a lot. What I'm getting at here is very similar to guideline #1, I'm asking that you hold off on bazookaing at the start of battle so that we conserve bazookas. If you use every bazooka you have in the first 10 minutes, and the battle bar never really drops that far down, then you have wasted a bunch of bazookas that could have been used in another battle. However later in the battle, if it is close, break out the bazookas and make sweet bloody war with Croatia.

There are exceptions to every guideline I just stated; as I will soon find out I’m sure, but in general following these rules will help Switzerland win our war. If you picked up on it I'm essentially just asking you not to be BH hunter for once and do what is best for Switzerland, and through it, no matter what it may seem like at the time, what is best for you. Thank You.
